Update
Pissed right off 😤
Yesterday was the day of surgery, had to be at hospital for 11am. It’s approx 1hr 45 drive for me.
Just about at junction on motorway to turn off ( hospital only 5/10mins from motorway) get a phone call to say surgery cancelled due to in house doctor having tested positive for Covid
Haven’t a clue now what’s going on, expecting a phone call yesterday but nothing
I phoned them today with a call back this afternoon saying we’ll let you know but could be August which am not happy about

Yeh pretty much, my knee caps sit too high, so instead of running in the groove they run over the Ridge at certain points of motion.and can pop out easily with careless movements(subluxation) Add to that a fair bit of wear elsewhere and it adds up to near constant joint effusions and calcific tendonitis.

There is a very expensive op to correct the patella alta, with a very long recovery and a not great success rate. Even if I could afford it, and afford 18 months off work I probably wouldn't take the risk

I've just had to learn to manage it.

It took nearly 18 months of "you just need to strengthen your quadriceps""eat these naproxin like sweeties""let's try cortisone" to find all that out

Are you definitely sure it’s that bad ?
I was told I had bone on bone and at 50 you won’t get a new knee ( just keep taking tablets). That was from X-ray after 1st person on phone told me nothings wrong 😤
MRI proved it was just a tear

Yeah that’s why I waited for the MRI results 1st then them asking me where I wanted referral to.
Next time owt happens like this I will be pushing harder next time at doctors.
What I’ve gone through in the last 6 months is unreal with my knee and Thyroid with not being able to see anyone or anyone phoning you back
Up to 15k if I needed knee replacement I was told on the phone consultation as I had mentioned bone on bone but luckily I haven’t

Life is all wrong when you’ve worked all your life and paid taxes

Thanks that's a lot less than I thought, but if I'd gone at the start of my problems it would have meant forking out for ultrasound and mri on top of that. Only to find out they can't do much bar replace the knees, which isn't an option for a 30 something tradesman.
