In reply to Post #13 Thanks, this looks like a good shout. Did the rods arrive quickly with no issues?

In reply to Post #12 I just sent off some hutchy intrigues with paisley freight. The buyer arranged it but have subsequently used them myself. £26 as I remember insured for £300

In reply to Post #11 As a rod builder sending rods out regular i would rather deliver them myself on a penny farthing than use tuffnells !!!! Currently have two cases against them that will end at claims court.

In reply to Post #3 Tuffnels - the green devils! Avoid at all costs - I worked with them on a professional level trying to get them to improve their service for a large UK manufacturing company - I made surprise visits to depots and saw absolute horrors. Many issues, complaints, losses and damages. I ended up binning them, which cost them a near £1m a year. Terrible company that uses low cost as its USP.
Interparcel (UPS) is the one I have used to ship rods I have sold, no problems there. Word of caution - never send rods later in the week, i.e. from Wednesday onwards. If they get sat in a depot over a weekend, God help the rods. You'll find any rod builder worth their salt will always ship on Monday or Tuesday.

In reply to Post #4 What ever you do don’t use my Hermes / evri or yodel / collect + on inteprarcel website they maybe the cheapest but are the worst of the companies

In reply to Post #1 Don't use Royal Mail. Got stung a few years ago when I sold some boat rods for a mate on eBay and the cost of postage was more than some rods went for!

In reply to Post #1 Ive used UPS (through Interparcel or Parcel Monkey) many times with no issues. On the one occasion I went for the cheapest option of Tuffnells ( again via interparcel/Parcel Monkey) they didn’t turn up to collect so I would avoid them!

In reply to Post #1 Hi, For long items you can try Interparcel for courier options and prices, just enter the weight and sizes :-

Hope this helps.

Can anybody recommend a parcel delivery service to use for delivery of a fishing rod. I've been looking and most seem to have a restriction on the overall length, size etc....
I'm hoping to send the rod in a tube, 10cm dia by 190cm length..
Many thanks
