Nash R3s are selling very cheap at the moment now the r4s have come out. Solid reliable alarm - they would be my choice.

You could save some money and get a set of TLB’s. I absolutely love mine. They don’t really do anything other than go beep when you’ve got a fish but that’s the point isn’t it?. Never go wrong, batteries last for ages, you can chuck them around and they look great!

I had a set of Delkim Pluses in blue for years and during the winter it made me feel cold anyway they where good but very bright so I ended up using rig putty on them.

I’ve had a set of red for the last decade previously in pliers and now the new digital version.

I'd recommend a set of Ntxrs , you can pick a decent set up for around £300 maybe a bit more depending on condition , I wouldn't swap them for anything as they do everything I want them to do in every type of condition I have fished in . Only time one let me down is when I stood on one and it knackered the switch up which fox replaced very quickly . They are usually bullet proof alarms ,(mine have stood the test of time)with a superb receiver , the alarms for me are just as I would want an alarm , I still see no need to upgrade to the RX+ as I am very happy with how they perform . Edit ... dont buy the early mk1 alarms as they have a different rubber coating that eventually goes white over time

I like my TXI-ds . . . . . . .so far. They're a bit sensitive on a buzz bar (they can set each other off) but nothing a few button presses and a bit of fiddling doesn't sort. They're compact, look great and do the job. Also have a pair of EV-ds for barbel fishing

I went for all white LEDs for no other reason than they match my bobbins / the tips on my barbel rods - had my bobbins been blue (as previous) I would have gone for all blue on the carp set up. Never understood traffic light / red white blue set ups as my OCD would just stop me from even fishing with them - ever

I've had quite a few different alarms, Atts, Rx digital,Eos-r, ntxr, txi+ and now I have txi-D.

Out of all of them I like the txi-d and in all honesty it's probably only because they are newer.
I've even thought about changing them just for a change, not that I needed to.
All of the above served me as they should.

As for colour, they have all been different but I've had two different sets of Purple LED delkims, that's Purley because I like the colour of them. Some people go for red so it doesn't "blind" them at night but I always have the LEDs on the dim setting so it's never been an issue for me.
Colour is all personal preference and with a few top end alarms (Rx+, r4 and probably more) you can change colour on each head.

Also just to note than even some of the "older" models are still very good, txi +, r3, Rx digital etc etc.

EDIT: Lots of new moderately priced alarms now have much better features as standard too so you may not even have to pay top end prices.

I think it's mainly all personal preference as to what you like the look of, usability, tones as at the end of the day they should all let out a tone when you have an occurrence on the line.

Hi guys keeping my eye on the second hand alarm market. Which alarms make a good second hand purchase. Looking at the top end ie txi d or Rx + or another of the fox stable Ntxr or something similar.
Had original txi for years but eventually rocked them with braid and have been using cheap alarms for the last three years but it’s time to upgrade to something that will last me the next 10 year.
On a side note which delkim txi d colour would you go for if that was your choice anybody have them and wished they had got a different colour for any reason. By the way braid fishing is done with a cheap set of roller wheels now so that doesn’t affect the thinking
Cheers guys
