In reply to Post #112 Agree on all counts
Would be great to see Pope come of age on the big arena.

In reply to Post #111 He's a great batsman but I don't rate his captaincy very highly.
Defensive fields letting the pressure off, poor use of spinners and bowling the quicks into the ground.
I think woakes will be a key man for us, if he can find a decent rhythm and hold an end for good spells it'll keep Jimmy and woods workload down. If he gets spanked round the park and Jimmy has to bowl 30 overs an innings we'll be in trouble.
Robinson will be one to watch on bouncy pitches, I'm not expecting to see much of broad after such a long lay off.
I'm tempted to stick a tenner on pope being top scorer, I think hell relish those pitches

In reply to Post #110 Not too sure on the spinners either Root goes all defensive too soon with his field.

In reply to Post #109 There should be a decent few players in the big bash, not bad having Livingston Roy vince... If the batting isn't working, I don't know who will be there as a bowling option tho, Gregory usually plays in it but I think we'd be really struggling if we drafted him in
Edit: mahmood playing for sydney

In reply to Post #108 That's why i'm surprised Mahmood isn't there maybe be asking too much of Wood.
There's George Garton not sure at test level though.

In reply to Post #107 Wood will be crucial, the rest of the seamers are all too similar.
I might have taken a punt on a left arm all rounder but Curran aside I can't think of one

So they have named the Ashes squad suprised Mahmood not in there.
Really need the top six to contribute to put decent scores on the board.
Also need the spinners to be able to hold one end.

I see Moeen Ali has retired from test cricket probably pissed off at being mucked about by the selectors.
Over the last few years been more a victim of a batting line up not putting enough runs on the board and a
overly defensive Captain still got a decent record though.

In reply to Post #102 Well done India cracking test match drizzling in Scotland. It looked at one stage we would have a big big 1st innings lead but they dug deep then batted us out the match i suppose. When the pressure was on we weren't up to it.

Still positive, but it's muggy as hell and looks like a bowling day where I am. (6 miles ish from the oval)
Will need a few wickets in the tank when the new ball comes

In reply to Post #100 It's game on
Should have been a lot easier tho, some expensive mistakes in that innings
Strange to be watching such a dead pitch when wickets have been tumbling in all the County games
