it is a reflection of society, but mainly a male reflection.
Like everyday life there are very nice people and there are ****s, but most fall in the middle ground.
We have all met the likes who are full of themselves, the bolshy shop steward, the shouter at rallies and the generally obnoxious **** down the pub. Their own life is inadequate, they are failures and they are failing in what they believe their position in life should be. Belittling, bullying and a false impression of their importance manifest in their comments and abuse
Just ignore them, carry on and get on with life
Social media is a scourge on society which gives cowards in real life a cover to shout from with some impunity! Fake names are a safety blanket and body armour.

Why do we need to make the forum somewhere to moan about Facebook? If everyone on here is so elevated with their experience and knowledge over the kids on social media why do they use it?
The simple answer is unless you have a vested interest to reach the masses on social media (like trying to flog flavoured balls) don’t bother with it if you don’t like it.

In reply to Post #143 There is a reason people get bad press
The main reason being is how you conduct yourself while on the Bank, the difference with the likes of Tel is they are highly disciplined, focused when fishing, the vast majority of anglers are the same.
It’s the ones who think going Carp Fishing is an excuse for a right old Jolly that appear to be the problem

In reply to Post #143 You don’t have to tell me mate, Terry is one of the best
I’m talking about the hypocrisy of those looking down their nose at people who listen to certain music, use recreational drugs, spend every waking hour fishing etc.
Then idolise people who did it themselves

In reply to Post #141 He is one of the most successful carp anglers over the last 2 or 3 decades, like it or not, target fish after target fish after target fish. The time element comes with carp fishing, the difference is some people know what they are doing and can utilize the time, others have not got a ****ing clue. At the end of the day criticism is easy. You still must catch the fish, that’s the difference, the key point and the difference between a good angler and a bull****ter
As for his videos, second to none that I have seen, the right balance of everything for me. I think he portrays the pastime beautifully, makes me want to go fishing, inspirational, how it should be for me
What’s the flip side of the coin, a raving mong who can’t even talk correctly trying to scrounge a free packet of hooks or plug another bait company with a couple of average fish a year. Light years behind, how you present yourself is everything
Thank god we have choices eh, we can turn them off
There is a reason people get bad press

In reply to Post #28 Totally agree.
I recently put a post up on fb on farlows site, some lad caught a nice fish and someone from cypography was there and took his pic. I merely stated, as good as the pic was, I’d have thought it would have been better, as it was taken by a pro. Meant no dig but the replies I got Someone (usual behaviour) found a pic from about 10yrs ago to try and contradict my statement, wouldn’t mind but they must have scrolled through loads of decent pics to find that one. Does make you laugh

In reply to Post #140 I’d argue I was at the right ones but it was a joke, not a criticism. I couldn’t see anything that wasn’t female shaped through my dilated pupils anyway.
In our inevitable quarterly ranting threads the cable knit and soppy hats, alien substance use, southern lingo, modern music and even god forbid folded reel handles always get a mention. So is it memory loss or hypocrisy because it’s nothing new and the pioneers of it are put on a pedestal as role models.
Basically the north hate the south, the old hate the young, the poor hate the rich, the teetotal hate those who dabble etc.
If we had a thread on what people actually like it’d either be left with no replies or revert to moaning again

In reply to Post #138 Apparently so. I can’t say I ever saw a bloke in khaki heavy knit getting loose at jungle raves back in the day though
