If people are wearing the mask Mark said the Fp jobbys then yes maximum protection, anything else is useless against air bourne virus particles in a closed space of any kind!

So out of the replies you ALL wear masks to protect others who are pretty much all vaccinated like yourselves......

In all the shops near me, not a tourist part of devon, its very very rare to see people without masks on.

I stopped at Cornwall services today, full of stinking northerners, and id put a high estimate at 1 in 50 people had a mask.

Where i live has, and has maintained one of the lowest covid levels. Where cornwall services is is right in the area of one of currently the worst in the country.

Id bet that even of masks dont work in tge slightest, people who wear them still are less likely to catch it, as they are more considerate caring people.

The whole, they aren't 100% effective so ehats the point argument is ludicrous. The same people who say that probably dont wash their hands after a poo.

Also they need to be worn to help. My experience is if you wear a mask now you are in the minority in many areas here, but previously most wore them.
The exception to this is our small local shop where people still use a one in one out system and Iíve not seen anyone enter without a mask.
Lack of care certainly seems to have boosted COVID case in Cornwall.

As said Mike - reducing risk is better than saying 'it's not 100 per cent so I'll not bother' . It's a rubbish point of argument that people don't apply to other things like seat belts, most other medication, contraception, cleaning products. ... the list is endless. Factor in that not everyone has worn a mask to your 'why has the virus continued to rise question... simple.

As for choices... some can have an adverse affect on others (like not wearing a mask) ... some are simply personal preference (apple or android) .. and some are clearly a sign of delusion (Everton. ....)

Because they are only so effective, same as any other prevention method. Those masks DO work , hence why they are worn in hospitals etc by healthcare professionals. Nothing is 100% effective. But any help is still help.

Mal.
It's about choices.
But if disposable masks did work why has the virus continued to rise ❓

Guidance in being a considerate person from the resident 'I'm all right / **** everyone else' brigade..

Wayne - I wear a mask because it reduces risk for myself and others. That simple. Your point about pre covid is fair enough - I think more people are now more aware of aspects of health and hygiene.

The all or nothing argument about vaccines / masks / washing hands etc. is just boring now. A reduction in risk is better than nothing at all.
Condoms aren't 100 per cent effective either but I doubt you'd be telling your kids there's no point in them at all because of this would you?

Don't most people wear masks to prevent themselves inadvertently coughing / sneezing / gobbing on others?

So Covid made you start doing that Jon, what about when you had the Flu did the same not apply?

It's a personal choice thing.
It's like android or apple 🍏
Petrol ⛽ or diesel
Coronation Street or Eastenders.
Remain or leave.

If anyone chooses to wear one please do so as it's there personal choice.

But please don't inflict your personal choice onto others who are choosing not to.
The only masks that stop transmission are those very expensive ones and if folks feel so strongly about masks then buy one of those.
The cloth mask are not worth a carrot 🥕.
But its a personal choice and if you believe it helps then fine.

I believe Everton are the best club in the world but I don't expect everyone to have to believe that.

Blimey I must be getting better after that rant 😂
So yes folks if you want to wear one then that's your choice. But it's a choice and don't force it onto me please.

Nothing to do with self-protection, just courtesy to others who might be more vulnerable.

That's why I wear one in shops etc.
