In reply to Post #5 I often get to the lake or reservoir in the dark.
I'd much rather make up my bags on the bank as I don't know where I will be fishing.
Different areas require different hookbaits; pop-ups in some swims, bottom baits in others, some snowman baits. I can convert a bottom bait hair to a snowman rig easily, but having a bag on already doesn't work.
I also often put the whole lead and rig in the bag as well.

Which is why I don’t like making them up in advance!

In reply to Post #1 . . .if you store pre-made mesh bags or sticks for too long any oil content in the mix will turn them into bags that take hours to melt . . .

In reply to Post #4 I do most of my fishing as a weekday night after work. 6 months of the year that means getting to the lake either in or rapidly approaching darkness. Having a few bags ready to go saves messing about in the cold and dark and gives a bit more time to have a look and listen.
The lake I’m on at the minute would certainly not be classed as prolific.

In reply to Post #3 Ive never really got making bags up in advance - fair enough if you’re fishing a match on a prolific venue, but on most places does saving 2 or 3 mins really make a difference? Especially as you can make the bag up if you want to before you recast if you haven’t had a take......

In reply to Post #1 If you make up a solid PVA bag with a pop up or wafter and store it for too log it will affect the buoyancy of the hook bait as it will dry out.

In reply to Post #1 Don't know about solid bags, but mesh ones certainly stay intact for ages. Knock one up and leave it, that'll give you the answer!!

Once you’ve made up several of these rigs and bags, do they need storing correctly. Does the pva bag stay intact and how long for?
