In reply to Post #43 Beavers are ecosystem engineers and create a landscape I want to live in and and enjoy. We need to fit our silly carp fishing around these forces of nature. This is serious now. If you gripe against beavers you gripe against ecology and you are a serious threat to the countryside.

In reply to Post #41 I have no idea regarding Beavers mate.
re released otter back when Phillip Ware was responsible i agree, but there were only 130. (Recorded)
NO one knew how many were already in the wild, and still to this day dont

In reply to Post #32 Couldn't agree more. Modern commercial carp fishery management consists entirely of interfering with nature.

In reply to Post #39 Frenzy, the progeny of those released Lutra are the consequence of, arent they ? if we apply that logic too Beavers, we can imagine a similar outcome ? especially if these re-wilders are involved as suspected.

In reply to Post #38 Totally agree
but the captive breeding program finished years ago and those otters will be a long time dead. Plus the numbers of otters bred and released were very low.

In reply to Post #32 Mal, i agree with you.....regulated conservation. I actually think there is a place for Otters.....they were in place, minding there own for a long time until these captive bred animals were systematically and uncontrolledly, released to what it is now.
Same for the Beaver, Im all for them so long as they are controlled and regulated.
And I also agree with you on the carp anglers point of view and how we meddle with fisheries to our own ends. Stripping out all other species to maximise weight gains or worse, coz anglers dont want to wake up at 2am for a tench.....
Like you say, a bit of balance.

In reply to Post #36 No worse than hitting a badger, like the ones that get accidentally hit round here. Normally after they shoot themselves 😂

In reply to Post #28 If you use youtube you can find them on there Ken https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXBVXCpMqU4C5P1-x9ofDXw/videos
Agree Beavers are going to become the next 'otter' but living in Kent I am waiting for the day I wake up on my local syndicate and one of these is outside my bivvy

In reply to Post #27 by way of a bit of balance / devil's advocate....
it could be seen as hypocritical complaining about 'messing with nature' and 'creating new lakes'....
or is creating a new lake for carp anglers and messing with nature through artificial breeding, stocking and feeding exempt from the argument?
btw - I'm in favour of regulated conservation rather than foolhardy renegades taking things into their own hands. sensible reintroduction of species that were driven out by mankind 'playing god' and messing up habitats is a positive in my book.
like i say - a bit of balance

In reply to Post #27 Kudos to your post,fantastic..
Couldn't have put it better myself..
Rewilders, like as said..play god, they do what they want..get what they want and care not one jot about the bigger picture..
I have met them, dealt with them, and it's the same mindset..
Do not trust them with there clever words, graphs etc, they all have their own private agenda, and it does not include anglers..
NB,like Ken mentioned, two released already, this info let go in mainstream media, nothing said about the other beavers,in the Tamar valley,...same thing,as the otter situation,it has many parallels,..
On a different genre,I have been fishing twice, and been very close to big cats..puma,or panther..I'm not that clued up....yet...!!...
Last year, and around 20 years ago, both on moorland,...and one my wife saw ,now I'm thinking about it...

In reply to Post #1 One of my old UK mates put me onto this podcast recently, agree it is a different and extremely interesting opportunity to explore Bait and some other topics in depth (e.g Moon Phases). Which has been sadly lacking in other carp podcast agendas recently.
Slowly working through your back catalogue, it’s great stuff, Good luck with it, lads.
Looking forward to some ‘dueling expert’ discussion on the value of Single Aminos in coming episodes, if you can set that up😁😁😁
