The rivers for the most part are some ppls last chance for peace and quiet hence the lack of responses im sure I struggle on commercial lakes these days, especially abroad. Its a social for me and nothing more. The rivers are so much more appealing. I tend to fish the Saone

Never go where the English are........🤣🤣 I do know what you mean.

Good to know about the Rhône. I will take a look at other areas.

I must admit that I have bumped into more Dutch over the last few years than English on the rivers and they at times seem to piss off the french boys that’s for sure.

Plenty of water still to go at out there, just getting the time seems to be the problem.

Thanks for your help 👍

I fished the lot from 99 to 04 and I have many happy memories , wouldn't go back , I'll never go where the English go if I can help it 😂
Only done a small amount on the Vienne , around 2010 , to many small commons and cats in the areas I fished , it certainly does do big fish , but it never grabbed me ,
The Rhone is the river for me , forget Lyon , not because it doesn't have good fish , just for the security , if you want great scenery , go downstream , still plenty of unknown in there .
You just need to make sure you learn how the weather effects the river , know when the snow melts in the Alps and keep an eye on the rain above Lyon .
A french saying translated .
When it rains in Lyon , the Rhone becomes a lion .

Hi Rivers,

Thank you for your reply. Yes I have done a fair bit in the mountain sections of the Lot, spectacular to say the least. We had some good fish as well to be fair plus some great laughs along the way like - getting a run, jumping into the boat but failing to get away from the edge despite the motor going full pelt!. A good lesson for all.......always release the anchor! It was a long tiring week........
I agree about the Lot becoming really busy hence why I’m looking for something a bit different but hopefully in just as picturesque settings. I have done a bit on the Moselle in the Metz area but it never really caught me like I had hoped. Have you done much in the Vienne? Recommend it? My mate wants to go to Lyon which I think is the Rhône but I have heard it’s quite dodgy around there so I’m not as eager.

Not fished the lot for a while now , not since it got so busy , but scenery never changes as such ,
Soujac to capdenac is a bit special for scenery , and then after capdenac into the mountains is really special , the bigger fish were harder to find though , as always access and safe parking are the worry with the lot .

Hi. So, I have been fishing the public lacs for a good number of years now and have been fortunate enough to have found some real gems but the last few years I have been caught by the river bug! There is just something about a river that really gets hold of you. I have a couple of nice stretches that I fish later on in the year on Le Lot which have very good carp and very few nuisance fish but I’m really after a really picturesque section for the summer months. Somewhere I can jump in the boat and be in the middle of no-where. Anyone willing to help? Not after exact spots, just sections. PMs welcome.
The Vienne - anyone ever fished the Availles - Limouzine sector? Is it nice and quiet and out of the way? Am I likely to get plagued by barbell/chub etc?
I have never been fussed about size, it’s the boat battle that gets my juices flowing!
