What’s Woburn like these days ?

In reply to Post #11 Was put off tiddenfoot as vans are at risk if left over night? Also what about on the bank? As I’ve been round it just with my missus and little boy and had a bit of agro off some ‘lads’ they soon left but it’s not what you want when fishing/walking.

In reply to Post #10 What about a Leighton book? Tiddenfoots not a bad looking water for a club book. Also smallford on the velulam ticket is a nice little water to creep around.

In reply to Post #9 Yeah the past year has been mental! Thanks for the info I might join just for Woburn see how it goes! Just fancy somewhere with some features etc I fish Beckerings a bit and it’s just featureless and boring. Would rather blank somewhere that’s pretty 😂😂

In reply to Post #8 Hit and miss midweek, usually quiet but the last year has changed that with the furloughed lot.
Night fishing is fine on all but Sharnbrook pit 5 and 6, they're days only but get hammered, hence I used to get there in the very early hours before you're supposed to. Pit 4a is laughable as you get a trio of guys thinking they're on Wraysbury all bivvied up with 3 rods.... they always blank... I doubt the lake is more than an acre with a couple of low twenties and a few doubles.

In reply to Post #7 Busy midweek? That’s when I tend to get out to be honest! What’s the rules on night fishing is it a book on system?

In reply to Post #6 No otter fencing as they only rent the fishing rights. Woburn for me is a better venue but there's a bit of a clique there and it gets busy. If you do things differently though Sharnbrook is worth a go.
The three runs day pits at Sharnbrook are easy, loads of fish but they do get a lot of pressure from the white tshirt and peg mallet brigade. Best to bend the no night fishing rules and get there a few hours before they turn up. Great for kids, I sometimes take my lad down there for a few bites, loads of perch and silvers.

In reply to Post #5 Has it got otter fencing now? Or is it still just as bad?
Thanks for the info may join for a year and see how I go; it would be Woburn I’m most interested in! Just depends how busy things are still going to be. I’m currently a member of Luton AC aswell so might do both tickets. Luton’s also lost kempston for the new season so everywhere else I imagine will become very busy!
How “runs water” are they? I’ve got a little fella who loves coming with me but needs to be kept busy!

In reply to Post #4 Sharnbrook did get hammered by the otters for a while, still some worthy fish left but the pits are so full of naturals it makes it hard. Lightly baiting margin spots and creeping around is by far the best way to fish the place. The run of the mill club anglers don't do it any favours either.... I stopped fishing because my target fish was killed in the summer by poor handling. All of the pits got a lot of pressure this season too. Pit 1 could throw up the odd surprise, nobody really fished it at all last year and it held a couple of corkers that as far as I'm aware are still in there. Pit 2 holds two, possibly three low to mid 30s now. Pit 3 has some nice fish and a rumoured low 30 common, some cracking tench too. Pit 4 gets far too much bait and pressure but there's a handful of nice fish to 38lb. It received a stocking late last year and early last year too. The other three are day runs waters and not ideal for peace and quiet.
Woburn holds some gorgeous fish, fishes better late autumn and is a good margin water in the spring. Access is an ongoing problem but the club are building a new car park soon.

In reply to Post #3 I was a member for a few years. Every morning i used to walk the whole Sharnbrook complex on what i dubbed the 'walk of death' as every single time i did a circuit of the complex i would find the remains of ottered fish. Numerous occasions otters were swimming round the pits as i fished. There are carp still in the pits but few and far between and fewer every year.

In reply to Post #2 Sharnbrook/Woburn mainly just wanted to get an idea of how they fish if it’s busy (under normal circumstances) just a general idea if it’s worth getting a ticket.

In reply to Post #1 I've been a member and fished their venues for over 20 years now, any particular venues in mind?
