Another user of the Flecktarn Goretex thanks to Gerry
Mines been in daily use as a dog walking jacket along with fishing for few years now, great bit of kit.
Try and get unissued if you can, hold it up to a light and check for holes if not

Mines been well tested and not let a drop in. I got an xxl so I can add some layers under it.

An xxl will be ok for you, as long as you don't want too many layers under it.

The german goretex waterproof jacket is great, very solid and waterproof as you'd expect. I am an XL or XXL in normal clothes (46inch chest). I have one of these german jackets in size 56-58 which is big enough for me to wear a good few layers under.

I aslo have one of these in XL

the PCS thermal jackets are super warm, I did order one in XXL initially and it was far too big. Worked out that XL is right for me. Have a shop around and you'll find one for around £40

Don't give up. Probably some of the best military surplus isn't made for people like the Infantry. Some of the ground trades had stuff made for them in larger sizes that was made of far superior materials. Stuff is generally made lighter weight for jobs that are more active. Decrease in weight generally comes at a cost with military procurement's

looking to pick a few bits up online for the current climate and next winter, worried about the sizing on most items ive looked at so far. im normally XXL but i dont know how small/large the surplus items come up.

any bigger blokes have any experience here?
ideally after a decent waterproof coat.
