In reply to Post #41 Acids or alcohols create a ph shift in the water column which can attract fish to the source.

In reply to Post #2 My experience was exactly the same with no noticable difference in catch rates, I also had the liquid that's still festering in my fridge and has gone through a stage of puffing out the bottle and has now reversed and is full of bubbles.

In reply to Post #32 Yes it’s the increase in acidity that aids the digestion.
In the PeteB mix the Citric acid was there to raise the acidity of the mix and the chilli powder to help them digest it.
Apparently

In reply to Post #35 For acidity, the powder.. Greater surface area than the flakes. Chilli oil isn't really as named, more chilli infused veg oil. Powder is the best.

In reply to Post #33 What would be the better variant though for this, chilli flakes/powder or oil? Would either have certain benefits over the other?

In reply to Post #1 Blimey is Dean back in business? Used to love that bait, had some of my best years using it when it was a little hush hush
Best bit was letting people try and then seeing their faces turn purple red from the cayenne pepper 😂

I saw this thread and thought I had gone back in time 15 years...
I used it when it first came out and thought it was good - I did ok on it compared to the other baits I was using at the time. I went and saw Dean at his home and found him a top guy who was very helpful and friendly. He was rolling it at home at the time and his house just smelt of food and it made me hungry just being in there.
I thought the bait was loaded with chilli and liver from taste testing it - I seem to remember that this went against what Pete had been saying about them as attractors at the time and it was hinted that they were included to mask another more obvious ingredient.
I didn't know Pete had had a stroke - hope he's doing ok. Decent guy and very helpful without giving anything directly away.
