In reply to Post #405 I agree, clear as mud, but if you read through the Government guidance, you will see that local is defined as your local area, which is your district council. Just tap in your postcode and then the post code of where you plan to fish, if they are in the same area, you are OK. For example, I am in Uttlesford and thankfully, that encompasses both my primary syndicate water and several club waters. Happy days. Couldn't give a stuff about no night fishing, in many ways that's a good thing - meaning less pressure on the fish and a level playing field every day. Will people follow the rules? Absolutely fecking not based on what I've seen over the last 9 months of this ****...

All credit to the Angling Trust, a bit of common sense prevailed at last
This time of year it’s Grayling and Pike fishing for me, and I walk miles and miles of river banks in pursuit of them.
On a private stretch with zero public access - fishing dawn till dusk just over a week ago, spoke to one person all day (Another member) But the opposite bank which has a public walkway along it - literally 100's of the general public out walking.
What’s the problem

In reply to Post #395 Agree with you...
More confusion....how many miles is local......can you fish after dark but not midnight...can you cook on the bank ala camping....etc etc etc ....yawn.
Think the AT would have been better leaving this for 5-6 weeks to see if things have improved then start campaigning.

In reply to Post #403 Think as carp anglers it’s worth realising carp are not the be all and end all. Plenty of roving river anglers, lure anglers, etc that are part of the sport.
I’m also not sure about you but barrowing a load of kit around a lake is what I would deem exercise.

In reply to Post #395 Fishing as exercise? Really? Like the 20 stone bloke at the day ticket water...rocks up with 2 crates of Stella and 200 fags, sets up (3 fags) thenn sorts out the Ridge Monkey cooking stuff and makes couple of toasties to see him through til the Indian delivers his dinner.....all the while knocking back copious quantities of Stella and the odd spliff........some sort of exercise that is...

I think the government have based their decision purely on watching the Christmas episode of Whitehouse and Mortimer.

In reply to Post #395 Perhaps they think all anglers / fishermen are mature responsible people.
Perhaps they haven’t read a few of the comments on here.

In reply to Post #394 Im amazed this has been passed to be honest. Fishing...exercise? Come on now.
The AT have in theory done their job but the whole idea of classing fishing as exercise just to circumnavigate restrictions put in place for the benefit of our population is beyond selfish and blinkered. There are bigger issues facing the UK right now than whether people can go fishing.

In reply to Post #393 The roads are way quieter! I'm doing Bedfordshire down to Surrey right round the M25 in "rush hour" traffic in just over an hour, half the time it was taking a few weeks before Xmas
