In reply to Post #30 Still Greg. I’ve had winter tickets a few times over the years and had a full ticket a couple of years ago when my nipper was born. (It’s 5 mins from me) There’s 2 big commons both pushing 40lb now.
Nice secure little lake, can be tricky tho, those fish get a lot of angling pressure. Good floater water in summer and zigs do well in the winter.

In reply to Post #29 Does Greg still run it? I had a nice common of 31lb 5 years ago, I assume that is the one that is now 38?

In reply to Post #27 The Common is a lovely fish, (I never had it either!) and there's some lovely scaley ones in there as well....
It's not cheap now for what it is, £400 for the year....

In reply to Post #26 Yeah the risk of predation is always there mate
The big common currently in there is a corker. I know a couple of chaps that have had it, one of whom is on here. In all my old pics I cant see that one so I dont think I ever had it back in the day. It's only 20 minutes from where I work and I actually considered having a pop for it on work overnighters. Might still look into it once this covid ***** is under control.

In reply to Post #25 It sure was Ian, I haven't fished it for about 5 years now but even though it got a lot harder you could still get the odd big hit, I remember one crazy afternoon in June having 12 up to 28lb plus a Cat in a 7 hour period whilst everyone else blanked.
I understand it has been netted and a lot of silvers removed plus the stunted Carp with bad mouth damage from the bad old days! Heard it has got a lot harder but they go up to about 38 in there now apparently, at least they did when I last spoke to the guy that runs it a couple of years ago.
My main worry with that place now would be predation. It was never fenced and previously the Golf club would not allow it to be along that out of bounds bank anyway, (might have changed?). You have got the KLV lake over the road which has been ottered, (there were some lovely scaly ones in there as well at one point, I'm sure you have probably fished it... ) and there is a little brook that runs from that lake, under the A14 and behind Headlands....although it dries up for most of the year it does fill when the KLV lake gets flood water in from the Slade Brook/Ise...

In reply to Post #24 To my knowledge I was the first to night fish that place exclusively for the carp. 20-25 years ago it was a match lake but me and a pal had noticed them piling the weight on. We spoke with the guy that ran it at the time and he wrote us out a special night ticket. We had it to ourselves for the first year or 2, it was awesome. We'd fish under the tips, 6 inches off the bank, and 10-20 doubles/20s a night was the norm. Proper hectic fishing.
Obviously the carp guys clocked us eventually and the guy cashed in and sold a bunch of night tickets. Margin bites dried up and all the action moved to the far margin. Very fond memories of that place, I was only a kid really.
I went back for a year maybe 10 years ago when it first went syndi. A fun little water.
