In reply to Post #5 Johnsons is very good for surface fishing and Busbrige has a few come out to it. It is only banned on Broadwater

In reply to Post #3 Think I might go for Godalming then. I'm looking for peace, quiet and carp over 20lb. The venue I've been fishing has a few lumps but is not well stocked at all.
The rules are a bit much though, I prefer to be left alone to fish safely and surface fishing takes up a lot of my angling

In reply to Post #2 Definitely not after rammed venues, hard to come by since tons of people took up angling during lockdown.
Thanks for your input, think I might wait until people have something else to do before joining Farnham.

In reply to Post #1 Farnham has amazing waters, lots of waters, but is very busy.
Godalming only has a few waters but has a good selection of peace and quiet, runs waters, quiet, busy etc. They have several miles of the River Wey that often has no anglers on it even on a summer weekend day.
But Godalming has lots of rules so if you don't like being told what to do then stay away. Their bailiffs also like to decide which rules to enforce and with who so they are not evenly enforced.
GAS bye laws
Broadwater by laws

In reply to Post #1 I rejoined FAS after taking a 6-year break and they have changed massively. They are massively oversubscribed but do have some great water which has also been changed massively in order to try and accommodate such a huge membership (lots of new swims crammed in.)
But this all said membership is cheap and if you can fish mid-week or through the winter you should be able to get in on one of the better swims. Most weekends and the best are taken and there is also a rather large contingent of long stayers. All in all, its good value for the majority if that's what you ate after. No idea about the other water though.

Hi guys,
New member here based in Surrey. Been fishing commercials such as Beavers for a number of years and have been a member at Priory Farm for the last year.
Looking for a well stocked and well run society, with a good junior section to join in new year.
At the moment its between Farnham and Godalming Angling Societies, they seem pretty good value for money.
I'd appreciate some insight from members of both societies.
Tight Lines!
