Sounds like a dream

Ive got the same idea, been there and back a few times over the past few weeks. Just wish there was some water at the bottom of our garden rather than 3 acres of grass on a hill.

I think you are rather over dramatizing things as, although there may be the need for health insurance, a blue card available from Insurance companies and possibly proof of a Covid inoculation it can all be sorted out quite easily. The biggest risk is the likely extra travel time due to border checks but until that is fully implemented we really cannot make a judgement of how bad/or not, it may be.

You appear to be missing the point. The Uk will no longer have the same level of access as it currently enjoys. It will be treated as the rest of the world is, you may find it will be necessary to have proof of a very recent negative covid test or, though it has not been implemented yet, a vaccination certificate. The length of the trip is irrelevant.

For short trips i can't see much changing. Longer term I imagine the 90/180 rule will take effect but that won't have an impact on short fishing trips or holidays.

what is probably more revelant is how the UK will be treated in the event of the no-deal exit. The UK will revert to the same status as the rest of the world. It is highly unlikely that from the 1st January travel to the continent will be simple, just as the Uk have travel corridors, the EU have similar barriers involving their external borders. From the 1st january, without a trade deal, the channel becomes an external border and access will become very difficult without the appropriate paperwork. I live in France and am not allowed to travel outside my region, from the 15th dec I can, but returning to the UK to see my family and grandchildren is not an option. If I lived in the UK I would not be booking or planning any trip to the continent until we see what happens with the vacination program.I hope that sufficient progress will have been made for us to see our family at Easter. If not we must be patient, I would sooner wait several months to see my family than not see them at all. A good site for info on all this is www.connexionfrance.com

can anyone living in france comment on new rules? As far as I see everything is prolonged and curfew starts 1h earlier but there were some talks about easing travelling... anything true about that?

Yes, the river is at the bottom of the garden, not too far from River Lot Paradise and my mate Jim Lightfoot. We bought the house three years ago and recent events have decided us to move out here. My wife follows in 2 weeks time with the cat!

Lovely part of the world with the most beautiful and powerful fish, can't blame your mate for wanting to get back over here.

Good luck with the retirement and the fishing did you buy a place that backs onto the lot? My mate moved back to the uk from the lot et garonne department last year due to family reasons, he hates it and is desperate to buy something else back there.
