i think infinitys are in the same bracket as tourneys.

they rarely break. but if they do its cheap to fix.

some of the older reels were really well made Ive been tempted to buy new "better" reels for a while now but to justify the money Id have to sell my infinities and I just cant part with them
I ve had a line clip go and the clicker on the baitrunner go all cheap fixes when getting reels serviced

Shamanos are a write off canít get parts for reels that are half a decade.

So Original ISOs or 6k Tourneys imho, I have a set of both and have had both sets serviced which imho sets them apart.

The Penns get a very high rating on here so worth exploring further.

Things have definitely moved on but I'm not so sure that can be said about improvements in reel quality.

The older reels seem to command good money. Original Iso's, Daiwa SS's, early Techniums are all in big demand which must say a lot about what folks think of the newer offerings.

Had a few sets to be fair but sold all my gear 10yrs ago and things have moved on.

In the past I had bait runner LC's, Sportsmatics, Entohs, Infinitys and power aero 10000XTs to name a few.

Hence my question as things have moved on.

It all depends what your budget is mate really.

I have 3 sets of 3, Basiairs, Shimano XTB/XSB mags. But I'm a tackle hoarder and at the far end of things nearly retired, no mortgage etc.

If I was at the start of things now I'd be looking at a set of something like the Penn 7000 Affinity II. For less than a hundred notes per reel I think you'll be hard pressed to find better.

Why not get yourself down to a good tackle shop and have a mooch about and see what you fancy?

Good luck.

What's your choice for a set of 3?
