First met him returning to his car from my local tackle shop, stood talking rods for half hour or so then mentioned savay as I knew he fished there and had read John's book, must have ended up chatting for well over an hour.

Ohh, i got some old harrison ballista blanks 'ground down' via the old sage Dave Ball in 1995 who had a contact at Harrision blanks. Still own the rods that I built though not used them for about 10yrs. Lovely rods though.

I met Bruce while doing days only on Savay. Him and John Harry often fished together.
First time I met him I called him Mr Moose he thought that was quite funny.
A really decent bloke always helped me out. Got a good deal on my Rods as well.

Bruce lived local to me and I was taken up to his house by my mate who was a very good friend of his .
This was a visit for some proper rods back in the early 80,s
Mk 1 armalites 3x 3 lb
Then some 2 1/4 a few years later .
Then I wanted my 3 lb armalites re built and he said I havnt time I could build two sets in the time it takes to re build .
At the time he was fishing Savay and got up and went to his rod bag in his garage , un zipped it and pulled out 3 Perimeters 3 1/2 with sic rings and cork handles £400 to you , I snapped his hand off and he went **** too cheap 😂
I later got his marker rod and a Rocketeer spod rod and some invaders .
I still have these rods as thatís what I use in France .
I got Nick Buss to re build them for me as heís a very good friend from years ago and he kept them as was as he knew how much they meant to me .
Bruce was a lovely man and always had time for people , he was and still is sadly missed.
He built my mate a few sets before he became really ill and passed away .
It was Mike Harris who taught Bruce to build rods and I believe he is no longer with us .
We are just all getting old now , soon the anglers of that time will all be gone 😔

Had lots of interests and hobbies in my life Chris, I would be well off if i had,nt had ! I met him at a carp society meeting early eighties i believe and told him of a few problems i had building some north westerns , he invited me to his house later that month and showed me all the tricks and tips and we stayed in contact after that.I will add that aswell as a great rod builder by 1975 Bruce had caught over 100 twenties !! An amazing number in those days , I think he fished at savay for over 20 years !

Interesting Glen, I remember those in the catalogue. I wrongly assumed they were just rod names

It will be interesting to see what Jeff has to say then if he speaks direct to Harrisonís

Iíve had some TEís and Treb lites. Still have one Treb light as a distance rod for a four rod set up

Bruce built custom rods on most of Harrison blank range but Harrison also made blanks exclusively for Bruce ie extacy, mirage, perimeter etc.

Interesting, over my head, not sure about that

I know they used to sell a fair old selection of Harrison customs that Bruce used to build for them

Edit - Ross, why donít you give them a bell, they might be able to sort you out or supply something very similar, or better still tell you the exact blank they were built on. If you know, pending your budget somebody may be able to sort you out with some?
