In reply to Post #37 cant see this being sorted for ages yet mate...I can go out to France pretty much when I like, but no way I can be out of my business for 3 weeks at a time, add to that I think euro travel will be stopped very soon

In reply to Post #35 Also a long way off the way it's going so long as it's sorted itself out before next June, hope I'm not cancelling/delaying another trip.

I have fished Home Fen a few times and really enjoyed it, they were 5 night sessions with mates and we had a good social and caught a few along the way.
It really grinds my gears that people wouldn't even consider wetting a line there but would happily jump on the ferry and fish the same venues for the same type of fish over in France.....Home Fen isn't pretending to be anything more than it is, it's not an historic UK venue with Leney strain fish, it's a commercial venue, nothing more, nothing less but because it is this side of the channel it is all kinds of wrong.....
Treat it for what it is, a UK based commercial fishery that can be booked for a holiday week with mates......just like France..... ...if people want to fish it anymore than that by booking odd nights that become available or taking out a winter syndicate ticket then so what, that's called personal choice.

Yep gutted it isn’t an 80 🤭
In the scheme of things who really cares as it’s only fishing .

I bet he's well pissed off catching a 75lb carp from a UK water I know I would be.

these lakes offer the chance for anyone to turn up and have the chance to catch the fish of a a life time. not everyone can afford £2000 a year for a syndicate, or are lucky enough to know people to get onto the lakes that hold these acceptable big fish, or have the time to put in at somewhere like burghfield, although I don't imagine that is easy to get onto. if people choose to fish them, who cares, as long a they enjoy it. British record or not, who really cares, I don't even know what the current record carp is, nor do I let it bother me.

It seems I’m the same as quite a few on here I’d fish it on a social but that’s about it and if I caught a record sized fish I certainly wouldn’t claim it. For me it flies in the face of all the history fish this country still had it should be something natural and special not a carp imported and stocked at nearly 40lb

In reply to Post #27 If it's a legally imported fish and that it went in at 39lb? I think it'll stand. In all fairness, I couldn't care one way or another. After Yates's fish, they all seem ridiculous to me.
I had a chance of going on the list for Grenville, when I realized what it was all about, I ditched the idea all together. Felt sordid and perverse. Not my bag at all. To each their own.

In reply to Post #22 Im going with why the record committee refused to accept captain jack and i totally agree with them
Im not knocking the fish or the lake though. It is what it is and although it doesn't give me what i want from carp fishing, id still happily fish the lake from a social point of view and with the issues around covid preventing people travelling to france etc. it 100% has its place, but id fish it with my eyes fully open to the fact that anything from there, regardless of size, simply doesnt constitute a record fish.

In reply to Post #24 I'm going to sound so argumentative, lol. Not trying to be
Hasn't carp fishing always been commercialised to one degree or another? Dickie walker with his MK IV'S, Kevin Maddocks with his bait, books and range of rods, Hutchinson with his vast supply of bait, tackle, books etc, Kevin Nash was about ages and ages ago flogging his gear.
I know what you're saying as I see it's got to a point of saturation and every man and his dog is trying to get those Carpy $'s. Makes you wanna take up fly fishing. I try and navigate my way through the madness trying my best just to enjoy the type of angling I've dedicated most of my life to the best I can.

In reply to Post #22 I say get it over and done with and accept it as a record, carp fishing as it was is long gone to commercialism anyway, f*ck it.
