In reply to Post #88 I’ve got breakdown cover with euro breakdown. I rang and asked them and was told that breakdown cover will not affected and the policy will be valid . Unlike as already said travel insurance. I’ve just renewed my e111 European health card just to give me some access to medical treatment if required

Ok it was really hard to find information on to how they plan to police this however i did find some interesting snippets.
The job of enforcing this falls to public health England who only have 5500 employees mostly scientist and researchers, powers are now shared with local councils public health departments, on tuesday Uk border force stated to share arrival information with public health England who are passing information to local councils, checks will start at random and dependent on the amount of people flaunting the rules may move to checking everyone, second problem if you travel against a non essential travel recommendation, you may well find you have no insurance or breakdown cover, average recovery cost from France can range between £700-3000 dependent on where in France you breakdown. another thing to consider is if you go after the announcement and come back and quarantine your employer does not have to legally hold your job for you or pay for the time you have to self isolate

In reply to Post #86 More testing, more positive results. Of 4000 positive cases over 3500 of those will show no or very mild symptoms. Most of these will be in the Paris and Marseille areas. France was slow to start testing in numbers. Well behind the likes of Germany etc. They are now up to other European testing capacity and it's very easy to get a test.

4,000 cases registered today. Surely they are going to enforce some sort of restrictions soon?

In reply to Post #83 I think everyone realises that mass enforcement is not going to be possible but the odd check here and there is a possibility, just enough to cause a little uncertainty so those tempted to flout the rules will think it be me that will checked?
Yes there will be those that will weigh up the odds and decide to break the rules but I reckon there will be many who won't, plenty of people paying over the odds and trying to get back from Croatia by 4am tomorrow so some people must be concerned.

In reply to Post #79 Rubbish. They haven't got the man power to enforce it.

In reply to Post #81 Rubbish I reckon, tell enough people one thing and you start to believe it.......bit like the virus itself......

In reply to Post #80 Don’t forget they have your booking details and passport number. I have been told they will also be contacting your employer to ensure you are following the 14 day quarantine. They are Very aware some people will try and ignore the home quarantine.

It’s a possible £100 fine if you fail to provide details........seems like a no brainier to me......don’t tell them **** and won’t be getting a knock or call at all......

In reply to Post #78 They will be enforcing the 14 day quarantine using the track and trace officials that have been underused so far ! I think a lot of people will be getting fines or worse !!!

I probably Thought the same as most the're not going to enforce it, got call from my brotherinlaw last night he got back from France on Sunday got a knock on his door yesterday afternoon and answered it to a very disappointed official who was checking to see if he was self isolating, luckily he works from home, the guy did say they was itching to hand out the first fines and if they can prove it you can get a maximum £1000 fine for every time you leave the house, im with blanco better of not going and waiting, plenty of fishing to be had over here rather than risk it

In reply to Post #73 Maybe, but surely if you are quarantining then you wouldn’t have contact with your family? What would be the point in quarantine if you arrive with the virus, pass it to your family members, head back off to France and your family members spread it around doing their daily business
My mate asked if he came back from France after a weeks fishing would his whole family have to isolate with him for 2 weeks and was told yes, unless he can isolate away from them
Slightly different but my dad has diabetes and has to have a steroid injection in a dodgy knee tomorrow. The doctor told him it will lower his immune system so isolate for 2 weeks. He asked about my mum and her continuing to work and he said it would be better if she can isolate with him for the 14 days but if she can’t get the time off work then they will need to stay in different rooms, not use same utensils etc etc

In reply to Post #75 I think what the government do has very little to do with health, the virus or quarentine.

In reply to Post #74 Bizarre situation isn´t it? If the UK Government are that worried about a 2nd spike being contributed to by travellers to the UK, everybody coming into the UK including you Symon should have to remain in the UK for 14 days whether you planned to stay for a new days or not. I think the Slogan come here and maybe spread the virus and f--k off home would seem appropriate! We will sort out the mess afterwards!
