Devils advocate here - you could flip that and say 'what's the objection?'

I guess from a business owner perspective it only takes one positive case traced to their premises and they are back in shut down again losing money and sending staff home.

Pubs do proof of age without fussing which I know is slightly different but it does show that processes can be simple enough.

I don't sense any anger from here in Italy. Firms with UK suppliers have, in many cases, found other EU suppliers to make life easier, and it's very much as case of 'whatever' now.

The EU's disastrous handling of Covid and the vaccine rollout has little or nothing to do with brexit. The 'Oxford' bit of the AZ is only used by the British media. As far as everyone here is concerned AZ is a multi-national with plants all over Europe, it's certainly not seen as a 'British' vaccine.

Too much of that sovereignty that the UK was so worried about letting every country do what it wants with no coordinated plan to do anything. Bloody shambles. But brexit's old news here ... noone gives a toss now. Except me, because I can't use my favourite bait suppliers.

There is considerable anger within the EU at the UK over Brexit and the Bloc is behaving like a sulky baby. The sooner the EU accepts that Brexit is done and dusted and starts to look at the bigger picture the better. The UK deems it better to be outside the EU. Perhaps the EU could simply get on with it and look on the bright side for once and consider that the Bloc is actually better off post Brexit.

Look for the advantages that may result instead of harping on all the time about the disadvantages. The Bloc as a whole has enormous bargaining power and could easily form new (and better?) alliances if it would just get up off its asre and stop pouting like a sulky child. It's distaterous handling of Covid and the vaccines is a classic example of the EU shoting itself in the foot because of a strop over Brexit. OK, maybe this is over simplifying things but Macron in particul;ar should stop doing a De Gaulle and try leading for once in his pampered, priviledged life.

(And this is from a staunch anti-Brexiteer, BTW.)

Covid passports rearing their heads again. With the majority of over 50's vaccinated, and all the vulnerable vaccinated, what is the actual point?

Rishi Sunak Chancellor of the Exchequer.
Comments on the government's own Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities -

"But if I think about the things that happened to me when I was a kid, I can't imagine those things happening to me now."

You'd think this guy was good with numbers given his position. He's 40, where does he think the people that were racist towards him have gone

Canada nearer to USA than Europe, no blood clot cases so follow the money

Germany lack of vaccinations so lets restrict it to show we are doing something and really care about our population by ****ing them over!

You wouldn't hear that if they had a good supply. They've ****ed up with the ordering, so rather than admit it they come out with this cobblers, try to frighten people here and try to stall our success.
