I think we covered it pretty well at my school, to be honest I was either absent or too out of my swede to remember most of it. Which is part of the problem, people forget a lot of the stuff they learn at school after a while.
After failing miserably at school I came to realise most of the curriculum that I spent years arguing against, is actually irrelevant and itís the ability to take on information and put together work based on it in preparation for the workplace or higher education thatís important. Well maybe just in schools of reprobates destined for crap jobs like mine, but further or self education is where youngsters should extensively cover specialist subjects in depth.

Long time since I was at school do they teach recent history 1900's onwards. They didn't when I was at school.
I seem to remember slavery being taught but to be honest I hated history at school I didn't pay much attention.
Much more interested nowadays, I like to go on walking tours and learn things but the problem is my memory is so bad I forget it all

Wayne It's got to be better than trying to blot out history by renaming roads, many of the people complaining weren't even aware until someone told them they should upset.
Just need some plaques on some statues and hopefully we can get back to some sort of normality

Not everywhere though. I donít think itís in the curriculum nowadays, unless itís changed since I was in school in the 90s/00s. Only a touch on it during Black history month but that was rightly celebrating prominent black figures in history.

Iíve said all along, British empire atrocities need to be taught in schools. No good talking about ďhiding history by removing statues, Street signs, etcĒ when the history is being hidden from everyone because they refuse to teach it in schools.

They do, when i went to primary school we were taught about the slave trade, Wilberforce and abolition. Maybe because my primary school had links to Wilberforce, I was christened in Wilberforce's church and used to walk past blue plaques dedicated to Wilberforce and the abolitionists everyday on way to school.

So it was taught and hopefully still is.

This was a primary school in Clapham, 2 miles from Brixton and was taught to a 50/50 black/white school in the late 60's early 70's. Our estate was serviced by 2 schools and both taught about it!

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8647523/Steve-Bannons-links-Brexit-Indicted-Trump-aide-ally-Nigel-Farage.html

The Daily Mail pointing out that Steve Bannon has links with Brexit. Not half as much as the bloody Daily Mail has.

Is this the start of a shift to 'Brexit is turning out s**t so we're going to start blaming anyone we can for it?'

Yes, I was talking about the exam situation (why aren't the media calling it 'The Exshambles'?)

Careful and objective estimated results from teachers are a long way from 'My mum thinks I'll get ....'
