In reply to Post #276 The salary on offer to entice people into the teaching profession is garbage. You'll not get the best people to educate our kid's and that's the future prosperity of this country being risked. Will 5.5% make a big difference?

In reply to Post #274 And plus it's less attractive to private firms as they would have to pay the staff the same higher wages under TUPE when they transfer over!

In reply to Post #276 Thanks for clearing that up
As we both know what we post is not always how it is read by others but you and me have a fairly good track record in getting it sorted without insulting each other (you hippy is a term of endearment )
Whatever the words Boris choices getting the kids back to school is important IMO and if it's a risk to the economy then it's a risk worth taking.

In reply to Post #273 I was saying that a lot of teachers would probably say the same as noj. Let's wait and see what the country looks like in a while and wait for the public sector pay rise. Different story for NHS AND care staff imho who I think are deserving of a rise right now.
The pay rise is being touted as just over 3 per cent but this is an average. I think it is about 2.7 for experienced teachers and 5.5 for new starters. There's been a recruitment problem in teaching for a while now, and with more older teachers getting sick of the way successive governments treat them, a lot leaving the profession, so I can see why they want to incentivise things for new teachers. As said, for me, it could wait as I'm sure I'm not the only one who just feels grateful for being in a job amid all this.
As for the Boris article it's the phrasing that's insulting. As I said, he's the last person who gets to tell teachers about morals given his track record. I could go into more detail but there is a lot about it that winds me up and it's already too hot and sticky here
Have a good day man

Good article for anyone interested. As a member of The Billfish Foundation for decades it makes my blood boil these big money tournaments. Got it totally wrong in my view.
Edit: Sorry can't post links

In reply to Post #271 You know why they won’t give Nurses a pay rise...because it means when it all gets sold off and privatised the hope is that they’ll be for it rather than against it because they’ll actually get paid properly. All part of the bigger plan for selling it off to the states.

In reply to Post #272 Am I reading your right Mal are you saying teachers are or are not due a hefty pay rise?
I don't know about your school but in my missus school teachers have mostly been taking it easy since lockdown.
My eldest daughter is a primary school teacher she holds some Zoom calls but doesn't leave the house much.
Also what's wrong with that report. Surely you agree that schools should reopen

In reply to Post #271 I think you'd find support from a lot of teachers on that noj...
Unlike this tw*t
https://youtu.be/-4gZObbkhNY - Boris, 'morally indefensible to not open schools'
A lesson on morality from this man? Do me a favour.

In reply to Post #267 While I wouldn’t begrudge Nhs workers who actually worked with the threat of and to treat covid (Many didn’t), food chain workers, teachers and the police a pay review.. Should it be put on ice until we know how many others are left destitute when furlough ends and redundancies come en masse? Just a thought

Let’s hope this nice weather continues

In reply to Post #268 The Amazon delivery man blushed when I answered the door yesterday in my pants.
He brought the missus THIS I prefer the plain stuff myself but I thought that was cheap
If you haven't got Prime you have to buy two to get free delivery.
Oh dear what a shame

See NHS staff have been out in protest today. Clearly the Tory way of thinking that getting a clap is worth more than paying them a decent wage isn’t well received.
