Lol. No.

There are reasons why you'd have to go SAS stylee and not been seen as CaRpS can be a smart foe and stealth is the key on occasions [looks at gilly suit and smiles to oneself].

It's usually the scruffy looking bloke with all the battered gear that’s catching them all .....

Your right Noj. It’s not about pleasure or even catching carp, can’t be when you see how some perform. it’s about having all the gear, finely tuned, precise, polished, neatly aligned in his “swim” and looking like a bad arsed carper

It’s usually the scruffy looking bloke with all the battered gear that’s catching them all

Saying that though, carp fishing can be bought in a box nowadays, you can give a complete idiot a decent bag of bait and he will catch, even if he does not know why, and that’s the difference

Don't see the term " specimen angler " much these days, wonder why.

Amuses me that carp fishing doesn’t come under the pleasure angling banner.
What with all the spod/marker/boat/bag ‘work’, sitting about with wet wooly sleeves, general bell ends and need to carry on like an sas operative the last thing you’d describe it as is pleasurable

Its peg if you are match fishing and a swim if you are just general coarse angler I like to do spot of float fishing for tench so I am classed as a match man now even though the last match I fished was sea event over 30 years ago
