Visit Camera Jungle and look for a 650D Canon body. This has the flip round screen which is really useful. The lens I would really recommend for trophy shots (and loads of other stuff too) is the Canon EF-S 24mm f2.8 pancake lens. Low profile, very sharp and extremely adaptable. Then just treat yourself to other lenses over time.

As below, buy a Canon body that suits your budget and spec requirements. If you’re looking for a cheap lense go for the 50mm 1.8... they’re amazing for the money.

If the lens works just buy a Canon body only.
It's often better to get a higher tier model used than a new base model, there hasn't been a great deal of image quality improvement in the last few years

Canon 600d/650d? Really depends on your budget 👍🏼 I love the canon 40mm 2.8 pancake lens on a crop sensor camera

Apologies if this is the wrong place, newbie here and not entirely sure what is what.

I have recently got back in to fishing after an 8 year hiatus, just before I stopped, I was recommended a Canon 400d as a good secondhand dslr for a beginner, I managed to pick one up for next to nothing, and it has today finally given up the ghost.

Can anyone recommend a similar entry level dslr that can be picked up for not a lot, and if it doesn't have a kit lens a recommendation for a nice lens too.

I'm not looking for anything crazy, I'm no expert but enjoy having a play.

Thanks in advance.
