I use a wide gape or TA curve point which is a fairly similar pattern... but that's barbed only, Fox arma point also works well.

I can't see how a curve shank hook would improve the mechanics of the rig, you want the curve in the shrink tube more than the hook imo

Don't take this the wrong way but give it a go and find out for yourself. That's what carp fishing is all about, experimenting and finding out what works on your water. You might just find an edge that no one else has and might end up catching more than most but if you don't then you try something else like a different hook pattern. Good luck

With every man and his dog now using the ronnie / spinner where I fish I'm looking for something a bit different. I was thinking of giving the withy pool a go again as I used this many years ago and had a few on it. I think I used it with a curve shank hook but was wondering if a wide gape or even a smaller longshank could work.

What do you reckon?
