In reply to Post #8 Nine0Six, please respect the thread in the intention it was posted which was to pay respect to an outstanding life.
Because people dont post doesnt mean they dont care
The American riots thread has descended into a 'you say, i say' with strong opinions on both sides, it appears to me that some people are never going to budge in their opinions no matter what is said so that might be why people dont post
Please lets keep this post as it was intended, i think thats not a lot to ask is it?

In reply to Post #8 Yes you are absolutely right
As you are late to the thread do you care?

In reply to Post #7 Maybe Joe Average and the silent majority don’t care as much as you think.

In reply to Post #6 I appreciate you being the third person to contribute to this thread.
So many people demanding so many rights to make their own lives better nowadays but no thought given to those that gave so much to enable that to happen. I'm not so much talking about Vera but those whose who's moral and spirits were kept alive by Vera
Sometimes I wish there was a machine that would enable people to experience life under Nazi rule for a short while so they can be thankful

In reply to Post #1 I don't read the news much nowadays, it's all shocking this, bombshell that, and then a real piece of news like this slips me by
Very sad indeed, don't think we'll see her like again, transporting those fighting away from the horror of war, even if only briefly...RIP

I'm surprised this thread hasn't received more attention. It's not about her and her music because there can't many people left that like that sort of thing. It's more to do with how she helped pull the country together and keep spirits up in our darkest hours.
Sadly that don't happen anymore, good job wars are not fought like that anymore as we'd all be

RIP Dame Vera Lynn
We'll never know the true impact she had on our troops back in those dark days but I think its suffice to say that she had a wonderful affect on moral, 103 years, what a wonderful life!
