Fished chods over bait quite a bit. Everything from 130 yards 4ft deep. To 20 yards and 20 ft deep it’s a rig that’s always presented and as long as you separate the lead from the short chod section you should have a good hook to land ratio. Being 40ft i presume that the bottom is free of weed?. If so you can use your normal rigs without to much worry. Double bag stick mixes and slide them down your hooklink that should give you enough time to reach the bottom before dissolving. Same with solid bags loads of options out there mate just because it’s deep shouldn’t mean you have to change your whole set up Also don’t go there without adjustable zigs big game changer on deep venues especially if there under used.

In reply to Post #2 Bottom is clean, depths are 30-40 feet….the thing with a chod is can be 100% sure its fishing, and not tangled at those depths.

In reply to Post #1 I’ve caught a lot of fish on chods over bait , especially in gin clear water , only ever fished them up to about 18ft though but can’t see a problem using them in deeper water if you’re unsure what the bottom is like

Hi guys,
Fishing a very deep big pit at the moment, 30-40 feet avarage..
Always allot of wind, and when fishing further out its hard to check if the rigs are landing properly.
Now I was playing with the idea of trying chods over bait in the dephts….
Up to now chods have always been my shallow and margin rig when stalking fish, never gave it a good go over bait.
Anybody has experience with chods over bait in deeper water?
Best regards Roy..
