A few lads went over yesterday no problems at customs and definitely no mention of 14 day quarantine

Have you told the insurer it's for non esential holiday travel. Freight journeys are classed as essential so the hire of a van for a euro journey is in itself not an issue.

We have hired a vehicle for our trip to Italy, via France at the end of next week and no issues with insurance

Has anybody going spoken to their vehicle insurance company and asked if they are covered whilst taking a holiday.

Self isolation is voluntary in France and you can transit through France without isolation. Borders never closed To the UK but travel internally was restricted. Restriction removed and folk are already doing trips. The problem is the uk side upon return, 2 weeks self isolation (mandatory) unless you can demonstrate you are an exception. Hopefully this will be reviewed at the end of June

Travellers from the Uk will be asked to self isolate for two weeks on arrival from the UK, ooops!
So if you’re going for a week, will you be allowed in, no trips to the supermarket etc

Depends on the country... It is not general for all eu countries. You cant travel to all eu countries without mandatory quarantine.

Borders with EU , Schengen and UK opened at midnight. Border with NON EU countries open July 1st. Quarantine in the UK being relaxed is purely speculative, quarantine in France is voluntary.

Source please John re the UK quarantine, I haven´t seen anything about that? I think it is likely to happen but at the moment it is speculative.
