We got back last night. Despite completing the locator form, passport control only wanted to see passports. No interest at all in our forms. Happy days.

In reply to Post #57 Some places like burger king yes....most super markets no.
And at Aqvatika in italy you must wear a mask in the office, can only use the freezer to freeze water and the fridge is out of use to minimise covid.
In france and italy you are expected to wear face covering in all public enclosed spaces. We did burger king on our way thru france and you must wear mask, sanitise hands and wear gloves to use the cashless ordering system. Tbf, it was well set up.

In reply to Post #55 The message Brittany Ferries sent me for my trip said they are open but food is a reduced menu and in all communal areas you need to be masked up.
Think the shops will have reduced hours, but not a massive problem.

In reply to Post #54 Are the ferries still not opening the shops or cafeterias?
Keep safe folks

Nothing France side. Happy days. Italy, here we come🎣🎣😁😁

So, we are in the very quiet queue for the tunnel. Never seen it so empty. No issues or extra paperwork altho we were shocked that the french actually checked our passports!!!! Next stop calais 👍👍

In reply to Post #45 Yes we should all stay at home and just go out for days to the beach.

Pretty sure that EHIC cards are still valid up until end of the year at least
While that wouldn’t cover repatriation it does give you access to state provided healthcare services.

In reply to Post #1 Doesn't the FCO still advise against all but essential travel (worldwide) ??
https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/france. (Updated 18/06 & current advice as of 21/06)
Although this is likely to change imminently & by July it will probably be a free for all; its a bit concerning that people are obviously going over there Ignoring restrictions/guidance for a bit of fishing.........

In reply to Post #43 I'm off to Marne Valley 11th July, pretty much 99.999% certain it's happening as far as all the information tells me. I so need this holiday that I'd even pay the £1000 fine if push comes to shove!.
In reply to Post #42 Booked mine last sunday merc lwb sprinter frequent user and had to pay extra £24 return so that's £120 return that's cheaper than the ferries
In reply to Post #41 Been costly for the last couple of weeks. £260+ for a van return, I've been keeping an eye on it.
Topped up my frequent traveller account to keep mine down for first trip next week. £120 return

In reply to Post #40 Yep, and surprise, surprise, the eurotunnel prices seem to have suddenly jumped up.....

In reply to Post #39 Think that’s a pretty good indication that air/ ferry bridges will be in by then , or very shortly after . I’m assuming that Brittany Ferries would not be starting on that date without a serious nod from the Goverment !
Hope so ! I’m off to Dijon on Friday and I really don’t want the agro and crap of filling in forms etc etc
In reply to Post #35 Just received an email from Brittany Ferries saying they are running passenger services from the 29th of June.
Lots of restrictions on the ferry but my crossing is 11 hour at night so I have no issues with whatever the restrictions will be.
Just relieved to be getting out.

In reply to Post #37 you cant get corona if you have diplomatic passport... corona knows this so they are allowed to travel anywhere...

Don't suppose Boris is going to make Macron stay in the UK for 14 days quarantine after his visit to see him over the last couple of days.....
In reply to Post #31 Surely you just drive to Dover?
Adds about 500 miles to the journey!
Guys: I said that the Tunnel was no problem, nor are there problems using short crossing ferries. Down west the long crossing ferries (Brittany Ferries to be precise) are not taking passengers and their cars at the moment, this to be reviewed on 28th June.
In reply to Post #33 My friends came over Monday via ferry. No problems.
In reply to Post #29 Ken, you can still travel via Eurotunnel! Guys are fishing at my old lake, no problems as far as I know and lately no questions being asked, quarantine is not an issue either, going out there anyway!
In reply to Post #29 We are driving down from cheshire, through France to Italy. Its no big deal via the tunnel

In reply to Post #29 Surely you just drive to Dover?

I thought ferry’s are running also
Many lakes are now welcoming guests...getting there is the main problem but those within easy reach of the Tunnel and the short channel crossings will have no problem. For we mugs sat down here at the toe end of Cornwall, we have no ferries until the review on 28th June.
3 of us going in a splitter van next week but plenty room to distance (its a 9 seater), and masks will be worn

In reply to Post #26 Friend of mine drove over to fish Monday. No problems.

In reply to Post #22 I believe Boris is talking to French PM tomorrow, but whats on the agenda who knows ? BREXIT, Borders and quarantine
or Cassoulet recipe ideas.

In reply to Post #23 I traveled on my own as did everyone I saw getting on the train, as I said on another thread I did get a call the day after I returned but have heard nothing since.

In reply to Post #23 Think you will find that people are not travelling on their own, works out too expensive!!

In reply to Post #19 Have those who have traveled over been alone or more than one in a vehicle ?
In reply to Post #21 The prime minister has already said this will be reviewed I think he said 29th June and so far more or less said if we dont get a spike will not be needed.

In reply to Post #20 Be aware, those travelling back to the UK at present are required to complete a declaration form stating you'll quarantine for 14 days unless you are a key worker.
They said they'll be doing spot checks, with a fine of £1000 imposed. I very much doubt this will be Policed though.
If you don't complete it prior to travel, you'll have to stand there like a lemon for 15 minutes at the Border answering questions.
If you have completed it, take a screenshot of the completed form, and you'll be on your way home within minutes.

In reply to Post #14 Anyone worried about this Uk qaurantine should fiirstly check out the Uk gov website for the list of excemptions . The list is long ! And some will find something which applies . In many cases it is literally producing a letter on company or official paper .
It’s no coincidence that Macron is due over to the Uk shortly . The quarantine is the first thing probably on his agenda ! France needs uk tourists and with the Uk gov being sued by all the big airlines I can’t see how it can stay in place for long .. got to remember politicians and politics don’t change !!

In reply to Post #17 Have you told the insurer it's for non esential holiday travel. Freight journeys are classed as essential so the hire of a van for a euro journey is in itself not an issue.

In reply to Post #15 We have hired a vehicle for our trip to Italy, via France at the end of next week and no issues with insurance

In reply to Post #13 Self isolation is voluntary in France and you can transit through France without isolation. Borders never closed To the UK but travel internally was restricted. Restriction removed and folk are already doing trips. The problem is the uk side upon return, 2 weeks self isolation (mandatory) unless you can demonstrate you are an exception. Hopefully this will be reviewed at the end of June
In reply to Post #1 Travellers from the Uk will be asked to self isolate for two weeks on arrival from the UK, ooops!
So if you’re going for a week, will you be allowed in, no trips to the supermarket etc

In reply to Post #11 Thanks, obviously he is guessing like the rest of us!

In reply to Post #9 UK Gov still saying essential travel only. What impact that has on anglers insurances I dont know

In reply to Post #8 Depends on the country... It is not general for all eu countries. You cant travel to all eu countries without mandatory quarantine.

Borders with EU , Schengen and UK opened at midnight. Border with NON EU countries open July 1st. Quarantine in the UK being relaxed is purely speculative, quarantine in France is voluntary.

In reply to Post #1 Source please John re the UK quarantine, I haven´t seen anything about that? I think it is likely to happen but at the moment it is speculative.

In reply to Post #1 Great news, im booked for 25th July

President Macron has announced tonight that the entire French border will open on 1st July for planes, trains and ferries.
This is what we anticipated so clients coming with us from 4th July will be free to travel to us.
On the 14 day quarantine on arrival back in the UK the British Government have reassured 500 UK businesses in the hospitality industry that this will end on 29th June. Chancellor Sunak has also said today this will be amended shortly.
So it looks like everyone is back in business from 1st July!
