In reply to Post #4023 Seems plenty complain in London about the massive investment by tax payers across the UK for a healthier future population in London if it affects them. Totally out of touch selfish types clearly. No surprise though... I'd add 5% income tax on London wages personally.

In reply to Post #4041 Wandsworth didn't really have a choice but remove the dopey cones, as it left no room for emergency services, no ambulances could get to one of the busiest hospitals in the country
Along with Hammersmith and vauxhall bridges closed and Wandsworth Bridge at half capacity its been a frustrating few weeks traffic wise!

In reply to Post #4048 Cheers, same for you.
It is so frustrating, I don’t think it is coronavirus but I’m not prepared to put others at risk and ignore the advice. We are in the lucky position of having understanding employers, those with less protection might be tempted back to work.
Bob, I’ve read Private Eye’s Rotten Boroughs for 30 years. You’d love the stunts that councillors of all flavours have pulled over the years.

In reply to Post #4048 Hope all are ok in both houses fellas
Return to school always comes with sniffles and bugs with tiredness and general run down low immunity - coupled with covid there'll always be the extra worry and being cautious is the best option
We've had really good attendance overall but you can see that parents are not taking any chances - rightly so.

In reply to Post #4044 They say it's Corona related but I don't know anyone who believes it, it makes no sense.
Common belief is it was an excuse to get it through without proper consultation.
Consultation did start early this year, my missus managed to get into a very packed meeting hall for a meeting that didn't go at all well for the councillors, they were crucified so the belief is to save them grief they got it through using covid as an excuse. No one believes it's a coincidence that the councillors (who are non drivers) selected their roads to form the nucleus of the main LTN. which by the way is a wealthy area so their traffic is shifted to the poorer area just outside

In reply to Post #4047 Glad they’re on the mend, even if it’s the same (suspected) cold/infection we had it’s a stinker and heartbreaking seeing little ones suffering

In reply to Post #4042 Like the terrible father I am I followed the advice when faced with an asthmatic wife and son both with a fever, a new cough and a loss of taste and smell. I have just given up trying for a test as it has been five days now and it is too late for the antigen one. So now I still have to isolate for the next nine days as without a test result we just don’t know. Both are thankfully out of bed and on the mend, the GP chucked some steroids at them via a telephone consult and a course of antibiotics to rule out a chest infection in the boy but apart from that said follow the advice.

In reply to Post #4044 All starting to add up
Khan gets stick for traffic jams
Lockdown means less traffic
Khan calls for lockdown
Traffic clears up
No more complaints
This whole Mayor of London thing is easy. Wonder if they'd let a northerner do it...

In reply to Post #4043 Cheers mate, me and the lad are sweet. It’s the hormonal pregnant nuclear weapon I have at home that’s volatile
I could complain about being limited to 20 a bit more if I spent less time stationary, the road narrowing 906 mentioned seems to back up every major junction. And why? So the folk being paid to stay at home that we will spend the next few decades repaying, can sit around drinking frothy coffees and lager

In reply to Post #4038 It’s corona-related though Bob, they brought them in because of the need to widen pavements among other things. I have to admit I didn’t mind them at first, even though it took Waze a while to list them and had to do a few u-turns in my usual short-cuts around Catford and Lewisham. My regular journey to work is about 16 miles across South London and has doubled in time since early summer despite leaving earlier and earlier in the morning. I’m going back using the train most days.
Some proper consultation and modelling needs to be done before such wholesale changes, especially in areas away from high streets with heavy footfall. Traffic does need to be managed better and pollution decreased but this isn’t the way to do it. At least Khan hasn’t been out to the air quality sensors with the sprinklers.

In reply to Post #4041 Don’t get me started on the 20mph zones and 24 hour bus lanes 😡
And yes, whole family had every Covid symptom this past week with the addition of a snotty nose.. the GP was happy to see our lad because of the runny nose and prescribed antibiotics, so as chuffy says other illnesses are available.
I caught it originally from a Trump supporting US immigrant at work, so I feared the worse as soon as my throat was tickling

In reply to Post #4040 Government says make London cleaner, less pollution less reliance on cars.
Mayor takes the cash gives it to the councils and says do the above
Councils grab the money spend it as quickly as possible, implement LTN (Low Traffic Neighbourhoods) schemes in their own boroughs without consulting other boroughs. Virtually all LTN's in all boroughs cause gridlock.
Carnage and I don't use the word lightly ensures.
Apart from Wandsworth who back down the other councils announce it as a success backed by their Twitter feed fan clubs.
Other Londoners organise petitions, marches, posters etc etc. Then those who hold jobs through elections and who are out of touch wake up in the last few days and start to think about ways of both trying to safe face and their own arses, meanwhile the majority who are so thoroughly pissed off find as many platforms to moan on including fishing forums.
To be honest I'm past blaming now we can deal with them later. just put everything back to where it was (not perfect)learn from the mistakes and start again.
Let's hope that some cheap secondhand traffic cameras become available soon.
OK back on topic who's got a sore throat, cough and a snotty nose, do you think you need a test and can you get one?

In reply to Post #4038 Is the whole LTN concept solely Khan's, without influence of central govt?
