if that really is the new slogan then get ready for a surge in cases over the coming weeks.

on one hand Boris says we are entering the most dangerous phase of the pandemic (his coming down the mountain analogy) - and then he takes away the 'stay home' part for a pointless 'stay alert' ... Stay alert to what? a virus that you can't see? people in masks? people NOT in masks? people in NHS / care home uniforms?

i know it's still to be confirmed as the new slogan - yes a new slogan. govern by catchphrase - but if it does turn out to be correct then it's farcical

Latest government slogan to be.

Stay Alert

Control the virus

Save Lives.

WTF?..........Itís exactly a translation of

Pass the

Buck onto

The public.

Pathetic.

I think they need to differentiate between the death rate in care homes and the general/external public, and provide individual stats for both. These are effectively two separate and distinct population groups. If the death rate is dropping in the general population, then there will be a point that society has to re-open as such, with the caveats of common sense (Distancing, masks etc in certain environments). The care home situation is horrendous, but unfortunately inevitable to an extent due to the nature of the virus, but this is where restrictions/funding may need to be maximised on an ongoing basis.

looking at the charts I'd agree - we're not seeing the steady decline yet.

India and Russia look worrying.

Just watching a news item about Iceland and their national approach to sharing genetic data. No sense of the people being in fear of a 'big brother' but instead a philosophy that the information can be useful for generations in analysing virus / illness spread. A company called deCODE leading testing and have done 14% of the population. Very interesting and a lot we could learn from.

you can watch it here (sorry I don't know how to do links)

edit - previous link wasn't working. try this one...
