Probably because it's more relevant to compare yourself to how you've been doing in recent years? Spikes and dips can then be identified and understood.

That's because there have been worse or comparable years (Asian Flu 1957, Hong Kong Flu 1968 for example) previous to that but then that wouldn't fit the narrative so they only mention the last 5

But i do wonder when they say against the previous 4 years was 5 years ago a bad year? why not state its either the worse year since records began or since whatever the year!

Again from the ONS. Between February and August 2020, the were 58,000 excess deaths in England/Wales compared to the previous 4 years.
Someone needs to investigate these buses and drivers Wayne, you may be into something, lockdown the buses?

ONS......government bull**** ainít it......

48000 on the Death certificate maybe, 28 days within a test.......People midly ill with the CV but have a heart attack, get run over by a bus and its CV.......
