In reply to Post #408 I hope housing benefit is on top of that.
I really hope it doesn't come to that.
I can't buy three months of materials as I'd need a warehouse the size of a supermarket

In reply to Post #408 Yep, hopefully groups like the TUC who are taking on the government to change this flawed policy will succeed.
Unions kicking off and all that....

In reply to Post #405 £94.50 per week.
It's scandalous.
There are millions of self employed who earn wages and pay taxes at exactly the same sort of figures as PAYE, in exactly the same situation, yet we're just thrown under the bus.

In reply to Post #406 Who knows. ... maybe the future financial landscape will mean that priorities change and vanity projects get shelved in favour of rebuilding communities. We can hope....

In reply to Post #397 They do. Anybody that’s fallen on hard times should be supported completely and helped back on their feet.
No individual or family should be left without food or shelter providing it is their intention to contribute to society when they can.
We should invest in people as a country, unfortunately high speed rail and the like take priority

In reply to Post #395 "The Chancellor added the government intervention - covering wages of up to £2,500 a month - would mean workers should be able to keep their jobs, even if their employer could not afford to pay them.
However, there was not the same wages guarantee for millions of self-employed people in the UK. Instead, Mr Sunak increased benefits that many will have to fall back on."
That's the deal the government's offering people in your situation Keebs. Benefits.

In reply to Post #396 Apologies Keith.
So many ignorant and selfish views around I'm seeing them where they're not!
Some people just have no appreciation for what others are going through.

Young bloke in the supermarket in front of me this week. Doing all the right things. Small trolley with what looked like family essentials including baby products.
Cashier ran through his 2 toilet rolls. Came to a pack of tissues and said the rule was he couldn't have both. Either the 2 toilet rolls or the tissues and 1 toilet roll. Not her fault, but applying the shop rules.
He wasn't taking the Mickey just trying to get basics for his family but found himself in a situation made by the selfish hoarders.
Anyway. I bought the tissues for him. Me, him and the cashier all a bit happier.
Stop bickering fellas. Do 1 nice thing for someone and see how much better your day feels.
