Lots of Western government's have plenty of bad news to bury recently. Always suits having the hoi palloi looking the other way. Maybe that's why C-19 is getting so much coverage?

Influenza has killed between 12'000 to 60'000 people in the US annually since 2010 and about 500 a year from TB that's not on the news daily if fact TB kills more daily worldwide than the coronavirus has to date when's the time to panic.

I just read the story and it was an elderly person who had recently been in and out of hospital with other issues.Still sad times for their family.

why don't they close all London Underground stations if its that bad? I don't work in London any more but every winter in the past I caught a bloody bug..rammed tubes dirty escalotors...wouldnt the bad floods we are having in parts be a worry more for the old and vulnerable?

It looks like a widespread outbreak is inevitable. We need to prepare and that means we need to try and protect people most at risk. That's the elderly and people with pre existing health issues. 
A large proportion of us are likely to get it'll and it'll not get a lot worse than the standard flu.

That's why it's all bull****,scaremongering.If they were that concerned about it all,surely things would be more strict regarding travel and allowing people in and out of countries

There's not a cat in hell's chance of "containing" C-19. This is just a small section of world showing the air travel going on at this moment. There are 14,000 + aircraft in the air ATM...
And this shows global shipping movement at this moment:
How are they going to "contain" the humans in the air and afloat, all moving about the planet as their day to day life continues?

I'm waiting for a big company to announce next week that they have a cure/immunity thing for this. It will cost a fortune and they will keep it in short supply to keep the price up!
Just like the bird flu jab which actually only cut the infection period by 6 hours on average.
The panic reporting in Main Stream Media is now getting on my tits and I am surprised that the EU is not criticising us for not taking our fair share of positive tests
I fall into one of the categories and if it happens it happens  until then holidays planned and still carrying on with life like most of the country, but watch the news and the country is coming to a stand still.

All reports and tabloids contradict eachother.Now one tabloid is saying the disease has split into two different types and one is more aggressive and dangerous.They have not got a clue how its spreading or what the figures are,just feels its all scaremongering.How can they announce that 80% of the UK are going to be infected and give a figure of deaths expected, yet they don't have any other answers about the virus

Comparing COVID-19 to Flu in the UK is unreasonable really.
In the UK about 60 70% of schools kids get vaccinated for flu, as do 45% of pregnant women and 50% of people aged 65 or over .... so the death toll from Flu in the UK is actually low, according to our friend google the average is 600 deaths per year in UK...last year only saw 155 deaths - very minimal.
So comparing the CV where there is actually no vaccination being rolled out yet is a difficult one...! The current stats for the death toll is something like 3.5% and it has gradually incraeced. Its miles for dangerous today than Flu IMO.
