My son's an electrical engineer he was sent to the new Royal hospital in Liverpool on Monday. Today his firm has pulled him and their 30 sparks off the site due to being impossible to follow gov guidelines with so many on site. All of them have been laid off on 80%.

I've heard that greggs are looking into using drones to deliver to customers. ..

Sounds like pie in the sky to me

Just had someone drop a take away pizza menu through my letterbox. Thank god for these selfless key workers allowing me to self isolate

That's the thing, this isn't actually that bad a site compared to most! I'm lucky in that I'm paye so will be looked after a bit better if the gov does shut us down. Says it all when they have works going on within Parliament and within a few minutes of Boris speach on Monday they'd suspended the works and sent all the lads home. I know this as fact as my firm has guys in there
The small saving grace here is the cleaner is doing a fantastic job in the welfare facilities, she's cleaning one end to the other, and when she's done she just starts it again

Sod that, I don't work on those kind of jobs thankfully. I looked in on a job this morning, one bloke in a room at a time and most have either a flask or their own kettle and kit. And all the guys wearing proper masks, gloves, goggles. The boss has insisted the showers are running today, wants everyone to travel in early and make use of them. I was glad I had my mask with vapour filters in, they've had to use acetone to clean some surfaces, the labourer looked high as a kite from it

That sounds rough. I hope your site gets shut soon and you can stay at home with a reasonable income guaranteed by the govt.

It's really not that simple. So far so his morning in my 1.5 hours on site I've had to ask 4 different people to move away from me, 2 of which were site management. I've also seen as ee labourer pick up a mug from the canteen cupboard, fill it with water and drink it, then place the cup back with the rest without washing it up. Also the smoking area is about 2 m square and upto 5 blokes have been in there at any one time. Building sites are breeding grounds for illness and should be shut along with factories where distancing can't be maintained, numbers of people inside supermarkets will be limited and markers placed to keep people separate.
All the talk of building sites having the young on them is not true either, my company alone out of 30 blokes I can think of 5 that are over 60 and another 5 that are over 50. Sites have plenty of men 50+ on them,. The one I'm on at the minute at a guess there are 50 of us, I'd say 25% are mid 50s or older, and maybe 5 are 30s or younger

I expect that rather than some grand plan, it's just a simple cost-benefit analysis.

Lots of site workers are young, so the chances of them ending up in intensive care is very low, they probably don't mix much with old folk (especially if their grandparents live in Eastern Europe), and being self employed, they're motivated to go into work.

However, I expect public pressure will make them close lots of building sites and offer the self employed more than 94 quid a week.

Seems like most govt policies are like this nowadays ... do something or leak plans to pet journalists, see what the reaction is, then change accordingly. That's what I call leadership!

I don't think anyone can complain about builders still working, supermarket and hospital workers seem to be the most at risk.

They just need to put the tube back to full service so people can spread out

Everything is just a theory because thereís no blueprint for what needs to be done but as I said, I believe itís more of a financial necessity than some infection program. Not as dangerous a theory as those who said itís just flu and to carry on as normal though.
Any measures they put in place canít be fairly judged because people wonít listen. Theyíre flooding in and out of each others flats and houses round me, 2 cars full of young lads parked up smoking weed in the car park (probably coughing on each other), joggers and local degenerates alike still spitting on the ****ing pavements!

Sounds like a conspiracy theory to me. I don't think those in power are clever enough to orchestrate such a thing with enough precision to get the outcome they want.

I donít think itís the most far fetched theory but is nowhere near as simple as just let the plebs get it..
As pointed out thereís investors to think of, the gargantuan bill paying said trades to down tools and how they will calculate payments.
Wouldnít be the first time those in power have used the poorer in society as cannon fodder but I think the fact weíll be back at it tomorrow is more financial than a means to infect the young
