In reply to Post #1608 We are not some two Bob bunch of 3rd world oiks. Great Britain should already be sorting out the manufacture of its own PPE right now. Every time I hear about these shortages on the news it makes my blood boil now... Why are we not manufacturing it ourselves at break neck speed right now?
It's not hard, and it's not rocket science. 3M is a massive British company specialising in PPE. We should be able to make our own no problem at all. **** China.

In reply to Post #1596 Hi Mal,
OK, I accept and appreciate your 1st sentence. But to say that Black lives matter is different is only true, in that it comes from the other end of the political spectrum. It is identity politics of the far left, promoting group identity, which creates tribal division, each with your " our people " connotation. It seems to have lost traction, not least because of fierce criticism from many black commentators who see the dangers of stoking racial tensions, and are aware that, given their percentage of population, they are well represented in all walks of US life, including just having had a black president It is a terribly dangerous ideology, because you know what can happen when tribes engage in a power struggle. It's not good.
I'm not defending Trump, because I have no knowledge of the issue. I'm saying that it's double standards to only single him out for criticism after only 19 months in office, when his predecessor presided over her alleged animal abuse for 8 years. Surely you can see that?
To be fair, she should have said, for however long the US has had a bad rep, consecutive administrations have failed to address the issue.
BB.

**** politics. **** the left, **** the right... I just want to be allowed outside again without fear of dying.
You cannot blame our current government for this pandemic, the only blame lies with maybe China.
Mal, I'd say it came from the Wuhan virology lab, which is just meters away from the red herring wet fish market in Wuhan. The lady in charge of virology is referred to as 'bat lady'... Due to her work in investigating the SARS outbreak and research since. It's all to much of a coincidence for me... In my opinion it was being researched as a biological weapon in that lab, and the outbreak was an accident... There are far to many coincidences, and so many questions to be asked at a later date. Patient zero is alleged to be part of her team. China shut down Wuhan immediately, stopped anyone from there travelling ANYWHERE else inside China... Yet not from travelling worldwide. That in itself is probably the biggest crime in all of this. They saved Shanghai, Beijing and the rest of China... Yet allowed the virus to travel the globe instead.
The biggest worry for me now is when the dust starts to settle, that this will lead to the start of WW3.

In reply to Post #1592 They don't need COVID-19 ppe in care homes, that's the rule. But COVID-19 is killing the elderly in care homes. Staff have to go to work and they clearly are, and passing COVID-19 onto the care residents who are dying. Do a Pontius Pilate all you want. They're old British people that need the government's help.

In reply to Post #1600 read up on operation Cygnus , our government knew in January its potential for spreading , as we dithered all our neighbors hoovered up the ppe , but the biggest problem was a decade of under funding we knew this was coming , just a matter of when , "overdue " ! was the term used ! negligent is the word i would now use !

In reply to Post #1600 You'll get no sense from those hardened labour voters , if it was going well they would still find fault and put a political spin on it , heck you can't even say " my country" without someone getting all excited .
No need for it in these worrying times .

In reply to Post #1599 It’s was well and truly all screwed up way before any government took any action, as none was told the truth of just how serious the situation was until it was way to late to stop it.
Same with PPE – it’s impossible to purchase something that does not even exist, no point in blaming anyone for decisions made 20-25 years ago.
