In reply to Post #1784 ...Because shutting the UK borders means you are a xenophobic, which means you are a member of the NF/BNP/SNP, and KKK, and kill children, you see how it works these days?

In reply to Post #1790 yeah - I've got lucky and found one that is old school. you're greeted by name and the glass is already poised ready for your usual drink. good set of locals in who you can just sit and chat with. proper community pub which will be hugely supported once they open again.
apparently there'll be an announcement about face masks soon.
don't we all have enough information on this? we know that some are more effective than others. we know that the greatest benefit for the general public is that they can help the wearer from spreading infection. do we need matt hancock (or anyone) to tell us what to think about wearing one?
the brilliant signing lady is on the Scots daily briefing now

In reply to Post #1789 Unfortunately £5 a pint coupled with younger people preferring Netflix has become far too common.
I do enjoy a good night out in the pub though

I'm sure some would - particularly if it's a good local. Perhaps not enough to keep a business going though...

In reply to Post #1785 But surely folk would be prepared to pay a little bit extra to keep their local ticking over?
I remember filling up the largest container I had (the pressure cooker I used for particles) from my local occasionally on a Friday night years ago. Walking up the road with six pints of Guinness in a saucepan and a dog on a lead at 11.30, trying not to spill any. Simpler times.

Did I really hear Dan Patrick, Governor General of Texas say: "there are more important things than living"?
Dear God in heaven! Don't you just gotta love a Republican!

In reply to Post #1785 True, for the price of two pravhas in my local I can get 12 in tesco.
I might treat the family to a takeaway this week, one local pub does the best burgers and shakes, puts gbk, byron etc to shame

In reply to Post #1782 I spoke to my local landlord just as the shutdown happened. He said that they could sell beer etc. if people brought their own containers along, could sell bottles of wine etc.
But he said that for drinking at home it's way cheaper for people to just go and stock up from the supermarket...

why i criticize this government !
Vietnam , a country of nearly 100 million , had less notice than us , has a border with China , implemented strict measures to contain the virus like screening of all who crossed the border ,and have recorded ZERO deaths ! i do take that figure with a pinch of salt ! but still are way way way better off than this bunch of fu**wits ,
We are an Island , we are still allowing thousands to enter , per day , unchecked !
Please point out any aspect up to date that they have handled well
Come on lads , lets rise above handbags , put em away !

In reply to Post #1782 I don't think they can do takeaway booze due to licensing, but a couple of my locals are doing food delivery/takeaway.
One is actually doing Sunday carvery via video call

Back to all things viral ...
As it's looking like pubs will be really struggling, is there anything they can do or are doing at the moment to at least get a few quid in? Can they operate as off-licences and sell takeaway beer or deliver booze, or does a normal pub licence prohibit that sort of thing?

In reply to Post #1777 Surprised at the dig Jon as my post was meant to be a compliment.
The content of this thread should be a Corona which I'm interested in. I know threads go off topic and I can be guilty of doing that and have some laughs on the way but when people are dying I think it's wrong for people to use it as an excuse to ram their Corbyn views on me over and over and over and over again.
Edit
Just seen your edit. That was funny!

In reply to Post #1776 Hi Sir B,
Yes, I would go along with that.
It's actually his political posts in particular that make me laugh.
Although, it would save a lot of effort for his writing, and our reading, if he just wrote about the politicians he actually does like, rather than the long list of those he doesn't.
BB.
