the people that run the care homes didn't bring the virus in either did they? No point demonising them

The government have really cocked up on this one. Sending covid patients back into environments where the population is massively higher risk... Refusing to take patients from care homes for treatment and leaving them in situations where there might not be any nursing qualified staff. It's all very well giving Captain Tom a medal and a fly past and praising his generation for their spirit and what they did for us in the past - but undermined completely when they are throwing many more from his era on a nasty scrapheap.

Andy Burnham (not someone I've always supported) was excellent on Newsnight last night when he repeated his accurate analysis that the 'Care' sector is treated as a very much second class citizen to the 'Health' sector. He's absolutely right. When care home owners have placed PPE orders (at inflated prices) - which have been accepted - only to be told a few days later that they can't have them because they're being diverted to Hospitals then it's the system that's at fault.

I'm not Boris bashing, but the government planning for this virus has failed us. They have an opportunity to make better decisions now so let's hope they do...

Thousands dieing in care home's across Europe , care staff ****ed off in several Spanish care home's and left the old people to die ,
In the 2003 heatwave in France 15,000 old people died in care home's ,ok nothing to do with the virus , just a random stat ,
Well the old people in our care home's haven't been out clubbing , pubbing or partying , so how did they catch the virus ? The government sure didn't bring it into the homes , the people that run the private care home companies have a lot to answer for .

Tinhead - I was really hoping you would do it all day!

I was sooo tempted. Maybe just once in a while just to remind people that they keep banging on ?

Sounds like a reasonable plan to me.

Get some furloughed brickies to patch up Hadrians Wall. Kilted checkpoints at the top of the M6 and A1. Job done

At least she's got some kind of plan

Why do you keep banging on about hindsight? 2000 a week currently dying in care homes and rising. A 2016 UK government readiness drill for a flu like pandemic Exercise Cygnus and 20,000 dead and rising. Forewarned should have been forearmed, no hindsight necessary.

Talking of female leaders she's at it again,

Scotland on a different trajectory than the rest of UK, shutdown to be relaxed and I will close borders with England! Masks to be worn on public transport and in shops but its not mandatory and up to the individual.

So no change then just soundbites

Plenty of articles about saying how successful women leaders have been in handling the pandemic in a variety of countries. Why is this? Better at finding compromises? More compassionate? Less ego?

Would things have gone better if Theresa May had still been in charge?

Please , stop blaming Labour for the WORLDWIDE ECONOMIC CRASH of 2008

But some countries were better prepared! sounds familiar?

Actual I don't blame Labour, things were going quite well until it happened but in hindsight perhaps Labour should've done things a little differently and let some of those banks fail?

We were warned , do your research ! then we watched Italy and Spain , these FACTS are now in the media and press daily , surely you have read or seen them by now !

As i have mentioned before , I am no fan of Blair's and i am against any privatization of the NHS

Labour always invest more than the Tories in the NHS ,

Please , stop blaming Labour for the WORLDWIDE ECONOMIC CRASH of 2008 , its silly ! again do a little research , it would be like me blaming this c 19 economic crash on the Tory party , SILLY !

Haven't been called a lad in years

Yes expenditure was greater under Labour because they started privatising certain parts of our NHS and started the PFI innovative building hospitals and the rest, so freeing up funds. 2010 Labour left leaving the bank accounts cleaned out. We are still paying for the PFI contracts now so a great inniative. Remember Blairs no more boom and bust slogan

And Boris's first test was Brexit withdrawal

At least I admit mistakes have been made and will be in the future but would Labour have handled this situation better? No one knows.......But obviously they would have done better

Hind sight is wonderful and would be great to have at the beginning of a crisis
