They’re saying it possibly escaped the lab, not that test subjects were sold to market

This highlights who incompetence.

The coronavirus (COVID-19) has spread throughout the world, having infected more than 100,000 people and causing the deaths of more than 4,000. Officials in charge of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and the World Health Organization (WHO) have rightly received plenty of criticism about how they’ve managed the outbreak, with nearly half a million people calling on WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus to resign.

The reason for the WHO’s failure to properly act to contain the outbreak, and its repeated issuing of inaccurate and bad advice, is not merely the result of incompetence. Rather, the malfeasance is the direct result of the CCP deliberately buying out WHO’s leadership, with tragic consequences.

Experts have pinned the virus as starting possibly as early as October, months before the CCP alerted the world about the risks posed by the deadly disease. Rather than addressing the issue, China arrested journalists and doctors who tried to sound the alarm. In addition, the “People’s Republic” blocked information on social media and removed all news stories that attempted to report accurate infection numbers. The end result of this was preventable suffering, as countries were unable to take the urgent action needed to respond.

Yet through all the CCP’s obfuscation and ensigning preventable deaths, the WHO consistently praised the CCP for its “transparency” and “leadership,” saying its actions were “making us safer.” To the incredulity of health professionals around the world when finally alerted to the seriousness of the threat in January, the WHO refused to declare it a public health emergency. It took until February 10 for the WHO to even send an advance party to China.

At the same time WHO representatives gushed in praise of the regime’s response, noting the “Chinese people feel protected.” The WHO continues to lavishly praise China as they continued to downplay the threat of the coronavirus, taking months to classify it finally as a pandemic because that “might spook the world further.”

The root cause is the supermarkets/buyers of the produce. Won’t pay a good price for produce but happy to sell it for much more. Farmers can’t afford to pay above minimum wage for workers otherwise they’d go bankrupt. Cheap labour needs importing. Are consumers as much to blame for wanting as cheap as possible food items? Or is that because people just don’t have enough to pay the premium prices of the more organic foods all the time. I see in Tesco 1kg of carrots for 60p or whatever but the organically farmed (doesn’t mean not picked by cheap labour but you get my drift) costs double that. It’s not affordable for everyone to double their vegetable shop on a weekly basis. So do you take it further back to what a living wage is and what people get paid for their jobs?

It runs pretty deep and everyone will see who to blame as different but end of the day should the government have let it happen like this and should they step in to stop it?

A good example of the poor contracts farmers get in to to try and secure their businesses can be seen from what Freshways have done in the last few days.l!!

Not sure we are enforcing two weeks isolation from anyone coming in to the country bud. There’s multiple reports of people flying in and no one even taking their temperature in UK airports or asking any questions. The fact the borders are open is a disgrace in itself. I think it’s less dangerous than other flights because from what I can see Romania isn’t that bad, compared to us anyway, 7,500 cases & 375 deaths or thereabouts, plus the people are all together on the same plane, going to the same place in the same vehicles. Limits spread risk I guess. Still not right at all that any flights can get in the country. Don’t get me started on the illegal Calais crossing being rescued and not tested despite the outbreak in the camps!

They’ve said furloughed workers cannot work elsewhere. They can volunteer though. But not in the same organisation.

It’s 150 on one flight probably brought in by a employment agency as they can supply them cheaper than sourcing workers in this country and make a profit. Surely they need 14 days isolation as per returning travellers, so that’s 2 weeks lost of the picking season already. But I will put money on the company saying they have isolated in Romania before coming here 😡
Why would our own unemployed bother to get off their arses to work when they are guaranteed an income, a house and support. Those who have been furloughed are they allowed to take other employment or will they loose this as not available for their current employer?
As usual the workshy are guaranteed the same lifestyle whether it be recession, pandemic or aliens landing 😀

Some will hate it. Romanians being flown in and classed as key workers as they are feeding the nation and having to acknowledge their sacrifice during this crisis. Clap for the pickers every Monday night at 8pm anyone?

The Daily Mail claims its criticism of the government has forced the Tories to help the care sector. Piers Morgan has started asking Tories difficult questions. What with that and the spectacular failure of home grown labour stepping up to pick fruit and veg, I can see 'triggered gammon' becoming as ubiquitous as 'pulled pork' in the coming weeks.

Don't even go there...

So on tomorrow's agenda...

5G masts suspected of poisoning pangolins

Batman injured in misguided covid-19 related attack

Trump decides to officially remove the US from planet Earth as it's a bad place, a very bad place.

Chris Tarrant appears on the big TV at the coronavirus briefing. Dominic Raab is left stumped when it comes to 'phone a friend'...

And as a result of the virus, the UK brexit negotiator is forced to ask Michel Barnier for (and I'm officially claiming this word ) a Brextension ....

Thankyou, I'm here all week
