would you sign off to buy 400,000 items of safety equipment without checking properly that it meets standards?

No I wouldn't but someone in NHS procurement has or is the stuff delivered not the stuff that was ordered?
I think that's the 3rd time I've asked

We know the stuff is substandard, did someone order the wrong stuff, or did they order correctly and they've given us a pile of ****?

Typically there would be a specification that the supplier has confirmed their product meets, the government have said they are getting a refund here so I would expect and hope it was a Turkish supplier trying to blag us rather than someone cocking up a specification for the supplies ...

I wouldn't...

they've got themselves into a corner. Surely any PPE right now would be better than none. But, if they were to issue it and staff still died, they'd be open to all kinds of legal action for it not meeting standards. Total farce and in the meantime health and care staff take the brunt...

I have held back for a while , as more of the fact's finally came out and didn't need exposing to the deluded "Doris fan club "
It's obvious to all that have compared other countries to ours that this whole response to coronavirus has been a complete shambles , now the statistics prove all that i have been revealing since i started , populist leaders who adopt knee jerk reactions into policy have made a complete balls up of a response !
my latest offering as proof , the article mentions the ventilator debacle also .

gorgeous blonde

What I'd like to know is who's directly responsible for ordering PPE. I know if you go back up the chain you can say the government but who actually procures, is it their fault, do they order and specify the correct stuff or do the Turks simply mug us off?

I saw the report about the PPE from Turkey - apparently it doesn't meet british safety standards.

The whole thing about this has been a proper farce. First it was coming, then it was still in Turkey, then it was coming soon, now it's here but they aren't using it because nobody bothered to check it met standards...?

I can see why they're keeping pubs shut as it appears they couldn't organise a ... well you know the rest

As you say - it's got to be better than nothing. What will happen to it now? Will they sell it on to another country who don't have the same regulations?

edit - Sir B. I think you're right. When / if the testing does increase, the probability is that there will be many more cases found and at least there is better capacity now the Nightingales are there

it was a good idea at the time
Still a good idea now in case the outbreaks increases again due to lifting/softening of lockdown.
Things could've gone better but at least we didn't have people laying in corridors

We are there to help you Wayne help you to "get there " ,back too the mother ship !

last count , 57 000 people tested , still never reached 100 000

ppe from Turkey has been impounded , inferior quality , must be better than adapted bin bags , or you would hope so !

Don't need to contradict the death tally , as facts start to catch up with "the bullshi* "

nightingale hospitals have only treated a handful of patient's ! i'm not going to lay into them over that as it was a good idea at the time
