My post was a reply to Spanker's we are the worst at dealing with covid.
Each point can be singled out and made to a fit an agenda, it happens all the time on these type of threads.
You've made a counter point to why you think we are the worst. If that's what you think then so be it.

Just as a question, what are you counting as ďbeing the bestĒ at testing? The amount of tests being carried out? Because that doesnít work out. Technically the least amount of tests being carried out the better because most (not all) countries have told their population to only get a test if they have symptoms. So if you have less of the virus in the population the less tests are carried out. If you had 4 people getting a test a day because they have symptoms, thatís better than 40,000 is it not? (Disclaimer: I do know there are asymptomatic people too)

They tried to swing it in to a way that made them look good but in reality itís the opposite.

Too many folk are well up on their rights but a bit shy when it comes to responsibilities.

I blame the parents. Or the teachers

Trouble is, you need the police to make the idiots behave, but if they do, you'll have thousands complaining it's a police state and they're being heavy handed.

During the first lockdown there was a rule here that you couldn't go more than 200m from your home for exercise. I know someone who got stopped by the police ... Id card shown, with address. Police get on Google earth ... 'That's 400 m away madam, and a 280 EUR fine'. She was outraged. I thought it was hilarious. By the time she'd spent a few hours moaning on social media, I'm sure plenty of people took notice and didn't wander too far from home. Job done. But I'd much rather have British police.

Yep

There was a doctor on the radio the other day who put it simply

Stop blaming the virus and instead blame people. He had a very good point.

On schools... a ****ing farce but no surprise there. Gavin Williamson Can **** off. Head teachers, guided by scientific evidence, etc. Went for online learning before Christmas and he threatened them with legal action. Over the last few days he's made one brainless statement and policy after another. He's a ****ing joke. Now apparently exams are cancelled (only a couple of months behind the Welsh and the Scots there..) except for - and you couldn't make this up - vocational qualifications. That is, the qualifications that require more practical, hands on, in school assessment. He's a ****ing tool. Instead of having head teachers trying to second guess his brilliant mass testing plan over their Christmas holidays, he should have listened to people who actually know what they are talking about and let them plan for the online learning that has to start tomorrow. Parents, teachers and kids messed about and put at risk because he doesn't have a clue and blindly refuses to listen. ****.

Trouble is now that they've cocked up so many times there's much less goodwill. Hopefully people will see past the clowns and instead see the NHS and care staff who are still cleaning up their mess

Italy should be by far the worst in Europe given the fact that it was battered by covid earlier in the year with no warning, the fact that it has the oldest population in Europe, and a much higher population density, given it has a population similar to the UK, a comparable area, but half the country is bloody mountains.

Though strangely of the regular posters on this thread the only one to openly admit to being out and getting so wasted they vaguely remembered a song being played on the dance floor... was mr. Take it seriously... YOU

Boris is clearly a blabbering idiot with a posse of little public school boys up his ringer, but it was not them out sneezing on 60k+ people a day.. No, it was the selfish ******* people themselves.
Weíve been in some form of lockdown for the best part of a year and people still struggle to make their own adult decisions about cleanliness and use of ppe.
We are in this ****, as are the states, because we are overpopulated and lack sufficient authority to enforce common sense practice.
You can politicise school policy, etc. But the spread is down to people in the community

You can follow the rules without agreeing with them mate. Be that timing, reason or the rules themselves. Believe me no one wanted the country to be in this position regardless of rosette colour.
Did Johnson mention what makes this variation more transmissible and what measures personally we're currently taking aren't working?

I'm not saying it's great by any means but I don't think it's the worst response.
In Europe Italy's death toll per one million is worse than ours. We are about level with Spain depending on the day of the week.
Our testing is one of the best in Europe far better than Germany who are normally the European benchmark
We are the highest when it comes to vaccinations.

Anyway to repeat my first line....
I'm not saying it's great by any means but I don't think it's the worst response.

I think that the majority of people on here have treated it far more seriously than those telling us what to do , i know i have , leading us to where we are now , worst covid response in the world , when you combine the death rate and economic impact !

Sorry to contradict you , but you can't polish a turd !

Everybody is an expert I just feel that their doing there best and could do with the support of the nation, I thought he looked old and tired itís not political for me itís just doing as Iím asked by who leads my country
Whichever party it was, and as said before Iím speaking from experience as an NHS worker who still has weeks of annual leave left to use as I havenít been able to take it due to the workload so please... stay home do as youíre asked it will pass and weíll get through
Well most of us will not everyone will this is really serious it kills and leaves people alone without a family member, itís not an easy job trying to sort it for the whole country so letís just back what weíre being asked to do now, far more important than any if the clapping last year
Stay safe
