Hey BB

I'll give it a watch. Don't hate him obviously. Just don't agree on everything he says.

And don't see me after class. I'm out of here as soon as the bell goes damn it!

On coronavirus. ..

My sister works in a nursing home and there are 9 residents on her floor alone with the virus. Plus members of staff too who are now home self isolating. Very worrying. She says she has a proper mask but I really worry that the abandoning of care home residents is going to put staff at greater risk.

Hi Mal,

OK, fair enough, point taken.
Memo to me.....watch your Ps and Qs.......must try harder......see me after class.....

My final thought on the JP thing. I don't think we differ much, and with reference to his humanity and empathy in dealing with a trans or any other person, I suggest you watch a video on Elite Psychology site on U tube called, ' If you hate Jordan Peterson watch this video, it will change your mind.'

just driven back from London where the lockdown seems to be well and truly over. I even saw people fishing the thames, lakes alongside the M3, people on boats, pavements rammed with people. Looks like the government have been defeated by the weather tbh.

Hiya bb

I hadn't noticed Jon's to be honest. For future reference though, tackling a homophobic slur by throwing another one back just doubles the amount of homophobic slurs on the thread....

We'll agree to differ on the JP thing. We don't come to a staff consensus as to a person being genuine. It's a support mechanism rather than a checking one. Semantics maybe but I'm sure you can see how word one might feel like a barrier whilst the other is helping hand. The process is student centred as it should be. I feel lucky that my school is very open minded and forward thinking about all aspects of it.

And I agree that military action should be a last resort. I'm sure the many 1000's of innocent civilians killed by all manner of military actions would agree with both of us there.

I'm off for my walk. Hope you're having a good day

Says it all really!

Today I did next door's lawn and flower beds (she is 88), mowed our lawns - we have three of them, pressure washed the garage doors, gutters and drains, did the same for the guttering and the facings on the house, cleaned the car, made dinner and now I am about to go outside onto the patio for a pint. That's more work that I would ever do on a normal day! Feel quite pleased with myself!

The wonderful Heather Small...gets to me each time I hear it

Hi Mal,

You're playing with words. Your processes are a check. You and whoever else are involved in the process are checking with the student and family to make sure you are satisfied that the request is genuine, as apposed to a student just asking you off the cuff, which you wouldn't accept at face value, hence your process check.
JP was asked by an interviewer, what would you say if I asked you to call me by a special pronoun or name and he replied, "well, we would have a conversation about that. A discussion and a negotiation to decide an agreeable outcome. And whatever outcome was decided, I would take full responsibility for my decision."
The difference is, that you use a concensus of staff and follow a procedure to process your decision, and he uses a process of discussion that he has practised for 25 years as a clinical psychologist, in private practice, having dealt with hundreds of patients in one to one therapy.
Having said that, people can make up their own minds as to who has the most emotional intelligence and who is self important.

The superior military and precision strike capability is the deterrent that has kept us safe since WW2. It's called NATO. In recent times it is that same capability that has defeated, or kept in check, terrorist threats and spread like Isis. Don't you think the 1000s of civilians like us, who Isis slaughtered, wished they had had that deterrent? Freedom doesn't come for free in the real world, it has to be protected.
The military is the last resort. Of course, diplomacy and negotiation is tried first, behind the scenes, but you can't reason with fanatics.

My term bender, was my off the cuff, I concede, clumsy and ill directed attempt, to throw back at Jon his homosexual slur to me, as in his post 1838, where he posted:- " A poofreader you say? Interesting. Is that like mind reading, but just on homosexuals?" It was meant more in irony than humour and while you're there, moralising, why are you being selective? Why didn't you criticise Jon for his slur?

BB.

Straight form BBC corona virus deaths pass 20,000, no problem with that as its figures are correct but shouldn't it say Corona Virus related deaths as every death is now a CV and no other cause of death..

How many have died as CV as named as 1st cause of death or how many have died as CV as secondary cause of death. And the way all MSM are now competing in a Top Trumps death tables is disgusting, unwelcome and down right disrespectful to those who have lost their lives.

Two examples HUFFPOST stating figures today that may be different to official figures just so they can get the story out first! and Yahoo quoting the death toll as a working figure FFS all MSM grow up and work with the public rather than alienating them, although I think its gone to far for MSM to ever ingratiate themselves with the public again.

Just waiting for the government announcement today and I bet the first question will be did Cummings attend or listen to the SAGE meeting, who gives a **** if he did? he's a government advisor.

1.35 million people die each year from car crashes! I wonder if roads will be closing soon, car production ceased and the world put on lockdown to protect us from cars......🤔🤔🤔

Totally unbiased view, itís like checking medical symptoms on google first answer is it may cause death!

Every risk assessment always starts with worse possible scenario and this was issued by Vallance who is still-involved in guiding the Government so eminately placed for guiding the government. But according to certain corners the government has got this wrong so by association Vallance is in the wrong! So what view is right.

It says a lot when every article issued by the Guardian has a begging paragraph for money at the end! Obviously their biased view is not sustainable 😀
