Herd immunity I think we can all shake our heads in disbelief at that one , I would never use such a blatant pop up

Wouldn't expect any other answer than the one you have given and
You keep banging on about the cobra meetings , isn't it quite normal for heads of state to not be at all of these and to send there seconds ?
If Boris had attended the first ones , what could he have done / learned that his second couldn't have told him ? Would it put a stop to this spread of virus ?
I'm not making excuses for him , but neither am I going to hang him or any other leader over it , whatever political side they may have been on .
I know you have hindsight in your arguments and a true unwavering hatred of the Tories , so you'll just shoot me down

Well , he would of been there for the Cobra meetings .

He was very negative regarding the herd immunity

And a question that is impossible to answer.

Can't help thinking that if there were a labour govt, and they announced exactly the same measures as Rishi Sunak has to help workers, plenty of Tory voters would be up in arms about the cost of it all and how such socialist tactics would ruin the country for a generation. Lucky he's a conservative.

i never said it would be better under labour. it would most likely be a different kind of major cock up

bit bored of people using that as an excuse for Tory failings to be honest.

and yes all governments have made mistakes.

as for the Chinese not being 100% honest - that's all governments as well really isn't it? it's most definitely ours at the moment.

As I say - they have a chance to do things differently / better. keeping my fingers crossed...

Every government except Germany has made mistakes , been caught with there pants down , this government is no exception , would it be any different under labour ?
And would it have been any different if China had been a 100% truthful about the severity of this virus , two fair questions I think .

the people that run the care homes didn't bring the virus in either did they? No point demonising them

The government have really cocked up on this one. Sending covid patients back into environments where the population is massively higher risk... Refusing to take patients from care homes for treatment and leaving them in situations where there might not be any nursing qualified staff. It's all very well giving Captain Tom a medal and a fly past and praising his generation for their spirit and what they did for us in the past - but undermined completely when they are throwing many more from his era on a nasty scrapheap.

Andy Burnham (not someone I've always supported) was excellent on Newsnight last night when he repeated his accurate analysis that the 'Care' sector is treated as a very much second class citizen to the 'Health' sector. He's absolutely right. When care home owners have placed PPE orders (at inflated prices) - which have been accepted - only to be told a few days later that they can't have them because they're being diverted to Hospitals then it's the system that's at fault.

I'm not Boris bashing, but the government planning for this virus has failed us. They have an opportunity to make better decisions now so let's hope they do...

In reality, that's pretty much what happened..

Thousands dieing in care home's across Europe , care staff ****ed off in several Spanish care home's and left the old people to die ,
In the 2003 heatwave in France 15,000 old people died in care home's ,ok nothing to do with the virus , just a random stat ,
Well the old people in our care home's haven't been out clubbing , pubbing or partying , so how did they catch the virus ? The government sure didn't bring it into the homes , the people that run the private care home companies have a lot to answer for .

Tinhead - I was really hoping you would do it all day!

I was sooo tempted. Maybe just once in a while just to remind people that they keep banging on ?
