Just for the record I'm not a die hard Tory by any means I've voted for many parties in the past and will do so in the future depending on what they stand for at the time.
An example of this is I thought the economy was doing ok under Gordon Brown and thought it was unfair for him to take so much criticism when the was a global down turn.
So I do support the government at the moment but only until the next election and then I'll make my decision based at the time.

That makes no sense. Do you think a labour government would have borrowed and spent all those millions of pounds in 3 months of being in charge?? Especially considering it was a 4 year plan?

No praise for failure from me, but what I'm trying to get at in the last few posts back is maybe try to be a little positive from time to time rather than the grass is always greener on the other side.

Good news from Fishie, well at least I think it is, let's hope the protests haven't interfered

These are the " bumps in the road?" .To put certain parts of the UK infrastructure into public ownership. So we'd own them now coming out of COVID-19. At least they had the balls to say it as it was. 1TRILLION 's in added national debt since 2010 and what's to show for it? You think that's worthy of praise and your continuous support?

Taken from BBC news

The UK is now publishing "growth rates" to measure the spread of coronavirus.
The figures tell us how fast cases are rising or falling.
Across the UK, the growth rate is estimated at between -2% and -4% per day. As the number is negative it means cases are falling.
So for every 100 new cases on Friday you would expect around 97 new cases on Saturday, around 94 on Sunday and so on.The growth rate is thought to be negative in every region of England.
Only in London is there a small chance cases are growing.
The range is from -5% to +1% but on balance cases are thought to be falling in the capital too.
The growth rate is related to the R number that has been reported for months. The R number for the UK is between 0.7 and 0.9 - anything below 1.0 means the epidemic is shrinking.

I give you
"only in London is there a small chance cases are growing"
Nothing to do with the marches, riot and fighting then?

Of course you didn't hear that because no one knew that it would become necessary.
Labour did say borrowing was ok though to finance their ideas. Just imagine if that had happened plus the unforeseen furloughing came along. Unless you're saying furloughing was a bad idea?

I don't think I've ever heard a labour politician say borrowing billions to pay millions on the dole is a good thing. Where did you get that from? No answers or ideas from those 2 Fishie

Form a medical perspective hopefully we are going to be taking a step out of it, hopefully!

From a business perspective and the impact on jobs and closures I think we are only just taking a step into it sadly, not good, it will impact a lot of people this sadly, probably has already but there is more to come.

Our woeful under investment in manufacturing has been exposed recently.
I agree with that

But we are right up at the top of the tree with national debt and borrowing our way into a likely big recession.
Wasn't we told by Labour that borrowing was a good thing and not a problem?

We aren't and won't be the only nation with the ills that you bring up.

But we are right up at the top of the tree with national debt and borrowing our way into a likely big recession.

We're also the only one cashing out our chips to get out of the world's biggest economic bloc as far as I know.

Our woeful under investment in manufacturing has been exposed recently.

So we've some specific unique issues. Surely these boards will be buzzing with Brexiteer ideas of how we jump back into the prosperity big league.
They'll be along soon Fishie, singing always look on the bright side of life.... Knees up mother Brown etc

Once again a thread turning into a slanging match.

So once again chaps "what's your ideas of getting out of this?"

its alright sniping about it but how is this resolved?

Do you actually think we are the only country hitting recession, with big over draughts and record levels of furlough, redundancies and job losses.
