I'll maybe pass on Ken's offer to give her some motivation eh?

Please do, Mal, along with my very best wishes. Here's a nice mug shot to tempt her with!

I'll add my name to your sister's virtual Get Well Soon card Mal, hope she's feeling better before long.

The 'nice man' I mentioned a few days ago is painting my mother's living room at this very moment. Taking advantage of responsible tradesmen not going to pensioners' houses to get a bit more work, the *******. And my mum's going out of the house for the first time since all this kicked off 'to get cash some out to pay him'. FFS.

That kitchen firm needs calling out - not just for breaking the rules of the furlough system, but also how the hell are they justifying going into people's homes to fit kitchens?

Just been doing some research re the care home staff sick pay thing and my sisters place is by no means the only one doing it. pretty poor situation when people who are looking after the old and infirm have to make a choice to stay home and get no pay or keep going in to work when ill. (obviously I'm talking about general illness, not C-19).

At least the SSP rules are changed so she can claim from day 1.

Sorry to hear that news mate, hopefully a speedy recovery. Slightest downtown get 111 rang, early intervention matters.
This furlough system definitely needs some work. It should be mandatory to be put on the scheme if you have a positive test, no iffs no buts. I was talking to a contracts manager last week he told me they now have work they can complete after furloughing all the staff. None of the lads will come off it cause future work isn't guaranteed and you can't go back on it once you've come off it. Seems stupid too me. Another mate was telling me recently that a kitchen/bathroom fitting local firm with 10 lads has furloughed all of them AND they still working on the jobs.

Yeah - it's pretty disgraceful isn't it?
Not sure if it's the case at all care settings or just a sh** particular of the one she works at. She's obviously caught it there but it's the contract so...

She won't go short. I've got the whole online shopping thing sorted. Sent her a Now TV box so she can watch some box sets and I'm sure Tesco haven't run out of her favourites yet. She's positive in her outlook and not one to whinge.

Most important thing is that she gets, and then stays, well. I'll maybe pass on Ken's offer to give her some motivation eh?

Hopefully it will be a case of just isolating and feeling **** for a while
So she gets sick at work and then they don't pay her? that's wrong, we need to look after our carers better.

Afternoon fellas - hope you're all well

Just spoke to my sis. Her test came back positive (as expected really - unfortunately crossed fingers aren't an anti-viral treatment).

She's been told the standard. Stay off work until well, then for a further five days. Call 111 if she feels worse. She'll have to apply for SSP as the care staff at her place don't get sick pay... Even when they catch a virus from work eh? She still sounds awful - out of breath walking from the kitchen to the sofa (and it's not a mansion).

Thanks again to all who have sent good wishes and asked after her - I told her and she got emotional. That's twice she's done that in a month. Usually it's only when they call last orders!

Stay safe all

To me , we achieve 100 000 teats a day when we test 100 000 people a day

I'm not surprised and I'm sure many others aren't surprised you feel like that but most of us are ok with the numbers achieved

I had an endoscopic examination/excision of the nose/throat area to remove a lump (non-carcinogenic). The endoscope entered through my right nostril and kept going until it felt my tonsils. It certainly makes the eyes water.

We are still waiting for our tests!

I agree with most of that , Farage is another , jovial "mate down the pub type " but showed his true colors when he betrayed his voters by pulling his candidates at the last election .

To me , we achieve 100 000 teats a day when we test 100 000 people a day ,with a test that is accurate or at least factor in the average number of bad tests , but i am not naive enough to think that they will be honest about it !

Track and trace app , a governments and conspiracy theorist's wet dream for obvious reasons , hours of endless fun for someone on this thread !
