Anyone got any news about coronavirus?

Apparently itís still here, still taking lives and impacting on society. But you wouldnít believe it listening to the news - demonstrations, parties, beaches and celebrations - but having said that no spikes from Easter and May bank holidays and still nothing from BLM and the others.

Leicester is under the microscope at the moment and itís been going on since the beginning of June! Is this a case of ignoring it hoping it would go away, herd immunity or the chance now to try new shutdown measures to see how the public handle it?

I am not a Covid denyer, but itís strange that this has happened now, and not before, to try to dampen the weekend free for all 😷😷😷

Like everything else on here it evolves....

If we're being picky about English as a language I'd argue the point that it devolves into the usual 'bloody foreigners' tripe.

Anyone got any news about coronavirus?

Scozza - I'm with you on the marketing aspect of pubs etc. Public health has become far less important than money over recent weeks. Looks like the new normal is a case of same as before after all....

We need to get our policies right. This might happen now were are out of the EU

I am all for it. Its also called selective hearing in a lot of cases, seen it MANY times. Sorry, don't understand, They certainly do when it comes to critical points in a conversation

Costs the country a fortune in interpreters. Lock one up, claims he cant speak English, call in support, few hours later, guess what, hes near on pretty fluent!

That's just ticked your box home sunshine and here the costs to go with it

Commit certain crimes, home you go

Yeah, but that doesnít say anything about people born here not learning English, that just what you decided it meant. It refers to segregated communities where people have migrated to this country do not need to interact outside of their native tongue. It was mentioned these communities are mainly from countries such as Pakistan, India, etc. And mainly women too.

Thereís a surprising graphic going around on the daily fail, but using government data, which shows that leicester has had 70 new cases in two weeks...a total of under 1500. Many more places have had a higher % increase. Link

I donít think anyone born in this country doesnít learn English...you kind of have to when you go to school and to get basic qualifications. Where on Earth are you getting your information that thereís are loads of people born in england that refuse to learn English?

Speaking more than one language well doesnít mean English isnít someoneís first language. I know plenty of people that speak one or more other languages solely because thatís what their parents speak at home. Or so they can communicate with their relatives.

But if they are born here then surely they should be encouraged to have English as their 1st language?

I don't blame the 'foreigners' as you put it I blame it on governments that have allowed people to live here and not learn the language.

Agree
