Just Googled them. Now if you'd said the acne boys I'd have caught on more quickly.

As for filming everything you do and becoming 'known' for it - good luck to them....... the egotistical little so and so's. Whatever happened to 'be quiet and go a angling'? Too many people shouting about themselves nowadays.

Now where's the emoji for grumpy old git.

Thank you Boycie for correctly explaining my post.

@ Tranter11 - you read the words in the right order but unfortunately didn’t understand the context.

@ Stevio-Hants - no I’m not drawing attention to myself ( ironically totally the opposite) but using 2 personal examples how most of us just live and exist in total obscurity quite happily.

I posted on the thread due the title - Alex and Carl, with no other explanation given. I had no idea who they were so I read the thread and concluded that they were some anglers of YouTube type fame. Now without wishing to offend the OP, I came to the conclusion that it was being assumed that we all automatically know who these two are and in my case it wasn’t the case. So I made my post in this context.

You will notice that I wished them well as I have no malice towards them as I don’t know them, although I’m not keen on all the carp media these days ( personal view and choice) and I also stated that. I then gave two personal examples of being totally under the radar and happy to be so.

Everyone happy

I think he's suggesting that every man & his dog seems to have an involvement with some company or another these days?

If all you do is follow carp angling on social media it would be easy to believe that too, everyone seems to want to associate themselves with a brand or try to wore themselves out for 50p off a kilo or a free packet of swivels.

There are professional whores in the carp world that will flock around any new product in the hope of getting a sniff of a discount in exchange for hash tagging the sh*t out of it or writing a blog about how amazing their embroidered cap is. You don't have to look far to find them.

Although I'm not sure what that's got to do with Carl & Alex.

Makes zero sense ? Why should you be known or be a consultant because of the army ?

Seems ironic that you are drawing attention to yourself but are poo poo'ing "consultants, media stars or just wannabe’s".

This is where me and modern carp angling go our separate ways.

I’ve never heard of them.

No disrespect meant and I wish them well but just not my cup of tea along with all the other ‘consultants, media stars or just wannabe’s.

Two things in life which always puzzle me:

I did 22 years in the army but seem to be the only ex squaddy I know of that didn’t have some involvement
( direct or indirect) with the SAS or Special Forces.

I’ve been carp fishing since the 70’s and have never been sponsored, consulted and am a total unknown.

Any others out there?
