Arrived at the lake after work and was greeted by all the ‘decent’ swims being taken. After a lap of the lake i spotted a small fish in an area I’d had a few out off. Two Ronnie rigs baited with Matty’s UB pop ups were cast out to two spots followed by a handful or two of boilies around the area. The dreaded phone alarm went off signaling the countdown to pack away for work and was gutted I hadn’t had anything during the night. A few lads came round for a chat and I’m sure I noticed bubbles drifting from one of my spots, but with the light drizzle and being half asleep I left it at that.
Next minute, the Bobbin pulls to the top and a massive bow wave erupts and heads out to the lake with the clutch and alarm battling out to be the loudest! Normally I’m super organised, but this caught me unaware and had me running out in barefoot to pick up the rod. The lad with me is like a walking encyclopaedia of the lake and informed me, the way it’s dorsal was poking out it was a certain fish and it had been lost a few days prior and was big, very big. I secretly hoped it wasn’t as I had already had it twice and hoped it was one of my remaining targets but it wasn’t too Be. With it in the confines of the net a celebrational cuppa while waiting for the storm to pass was in order.
He was right, she was big, very big. A new pb of 49.15 was recorded on the Reuben’s! with massive help from the main man Hampshire gee,
Needless to say, work was ok that day, albeit a bit late
