Nope, even 'A list / celebrity' anglers cannot break the rules.

I know of one 'high profile' sponsored angler on his first... and last/only trip to Rainbow, witnessed by a friend of mine, and other anglers on, at the time, taking the p1$$, and wondered why he couldn't get back on

some people may think there are above the rainbow rules, reality check - you are not.

Best commercial fishery in France in my opinion yes some of the swims could be better but then Pascal likes it the way it is and it is his lake after all, I think it was 7 x 70+ out last week without all the others, mate of mine has just finished 13 nights for 59 fish and 8 were over 50lb 6 over 60lb and one 70+ a quarter of his catch were over 50lb not many other commercial lakes if any in France can compare to that.

How it actually works is you hand dates and swims in that you would like if they are available then bingo if not you possibly get the date not the swim or the other way around or if neither date or swim are available you get what's available.

Even Anglers that have been going for 20 years are only being given 2 bookings a year but because they have mates getting bookings they share the trips so it seems that they have quite a few bookings or there quite regularly.
Ken and Jackie are about the only couple I know that get the same dates and swims every year other than the regular Christmas weeks and anglers who are there every Christmas, you have to remember that Ken and Jackie have been going for a month a year in swim 11 for over around 20/25 years they've earn't that right in my book.
Many a big named angler have been kicked off Rainbow you'd be surprised, one thing Pascal doesn't do is discriminate.
I have been going to Rainbow since 2008 done around 30 one or two week trips and never had my own booking I do not even entertain asking Pascal for one, ask on a bad day and you have no hope of a booking, I see it all the time a new angler gets on a trip and spends the week badgering him or the boys for a booking generally your never going to get one going about it like this I've even seen them asking the first morning before even leaving the lodge to start fishing never going to happen, do it the right way and you may get offered one by the end of the week.

I was finishing a two week trip when Rob hales and his party where in the clubhouse Friday night having a jolly prior to fishing Saturday people on his booking were Des Taylor, Len Arbury, Chris Tarrant and a few others, on getting round the club house Saturday morning they were all at the BBQ set looking sheepish they were about to get a red card when the mate I fish with who has been going to Rainbow since 1998 Saw Rob they have been friends for a lot longer and he asked if he could have a word with Pascal and calm it all down they were allowed to fish but their card was marked, one of the above was the cause for annoying Pascal I wont say on here why but it's funny how he never returned and wrote a goodbye Rainbow article the following month saying he had just about done everything he needed at Rainbow and it was time to move on, Paisley dropped a big clanger once was about to get his marching orders that was close to don't ever come back, it's not all what you think down there, I've seen antics by big named anglers at Rainbow that if Pascal found them at it they would be through the gate no questions asked.

What Iím led to believe and have also been told is that you book to fish rainbow and pascal tells you what swim you are fishing, whether that the same for the guys who fish there often I donít know.

My friend is going 3 times next year but this has been booked for about 3 years I believe and yes he did invite me to go once but I was busy with work so turned it down 😱😜👍

Even well know anglers are getting chucked off, the ones who fish it regular have more sense than to break the rules.

There were two lads who fish for a well known tackle company, they had sacked a fish over night so that they could take better pics in the morning. Pascal caught them and booted em off.

I know that this is going to sound controversial but everyone had the chance to fish at Rainbow all those years ago when it wasn't so well known, there are still quite a few that keep going back because they have built up good friendships with Pascal.

The thing that pisses me off is that the more well know anglers seem to get straight on there, because they know somebody who knows somebody, who knows somebody, that fishes Rainbow

Isn't that the case in all walks of carp angling these days, I'm glad that I am an unknown

My mate is one of those people that has been going to Rainbow for years, I feel honored to think that he asked me if I wanted share the later part of his trip

but i have it on good authority that Pascal is banning a few people if he gets wind of any bad angling on there.

Pascal is firm, but fair, and doesn't tolerate fools from what I have been told, by a few regulars.
TBH I cannot blame him, as he is simply protecting his lake and it's assets.

I know mate, I've been there and seen it, but as i said, it sort of put me off a bit as it's not how I like to catch em.

I certainly wouldn't judge anyone else who fishes like that and I Know that if done properly it's quite safe for the fish. It just seems like a crazy way to do it. and I have to say that some lads do get carried away when they see fish showing in an area far down a channel and around a few corners. it's like anything in fishing, there are the idiots and the experts, but i have it on good authority that Pascal is banning a few people if he gets wind of any bad angling on there. apparently one bloke had all his booking canceled because he was over heard in the clubhouse taking about how many fish he had lost in the snags

I wont be doing to much of that, I much prefer to fish the open water spots which is why i jumped at the chance to fish the island as there are loads of them, my mate who I am going with is the knit one pearl one expert

poles hooks screwed into the trees, down channels, around corners, over snags and 300yds from the bank. Mind blowing what some people will do to catch!

Think you will find that very much still happens there! when you first hear about it sounds shocking but when you watch it done its fairly straight forward.....

Hopefully this will be a regular thing for me now, my pal books swims every year, I know he has got bookings for 2020 and 2021 already.

And I am well aware of just how difficult it is to get to fish at Rainbow these days after making a few calls today, so I am gob smacked that my pal asked me. I'm just wondering what I am going to have to do to repay him lol.

By all accounts Pascal only lets people on that he knows and are good anglers. A lot of people get banned these days for breaking his more fish safe rules, and there are nets, slings and mats in all the swims, plus you have to double up with someone for more safety in the boats.

Makes good sense to me. fish safety is also top of my list. it sort of put me off when I used to go a few years ago, there were quite a few lads back then that did some crazy things to put a fish on the bank, poles hooks screwed into the trees, down channels, around corners, over snags and 300yds from the bank. Mind blowing what some people will do to catch!
